Today we’d like to introduce you to Belinda Ligon.
Belinda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The reason I started my own business was because the job that I had been working at for ten years was closing, so instead of waiting around to be laid off I quit. I decided to go back to college after ten years of being out of high school to complete my Associate’s Degree in Accounting. During this time in 2007, I started my tax business in Griffin, GA and a year later opened a 2nd location in Woodbury, GA. Over the past six years, not only do I still operate D&H Tax Service, I also have a tax software company called Tax Business Manager that allows me to sell tax software to others and teach them how to start and operate their own tax business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most difficult part was during the first six years of having my business because at that time was working a full-time job, a wife, a mother of three and attending night classes and the community college. The sacrifices I had to make was well worth it. Now I am financially free and able to spend quality time with my family.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
D&H Tax Service specializes inaccurate and efficient tax preparation while offering the lowest rates in town. We also provide bookkeeping, payroll and audit protection services to all of our clients. Griffin is only one of the three D&H Tax Service locations. Tax Business Manager is a state of the Art software that allows tax preparers the ability to complete a client’s tax return in less than 5 minutes. The software technology and features give tax preparers the capability of preparing taxes without ever having to be face to face with a client.
What are your plans for the future?
My future plans is to focus more on Tax Business Manager software sales and provide as much help as I can to other up and coming tax offices.
