Inspiring Conversations with Charita Snow of Fab Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charita Snow.

Hi Charita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Greetings, my name is Charita Snow. I was raised in Douglasville, GA and later moved back to Jacksonville, FL my last two years in high school. My story started in early 2019 where I was introduced to an Esthetician the very first time I was getting my lash extensions done. Her set up was really cute and I’ve always wanted an exit strategy to leave corporate america. After months of research, I first created a lash strip business called Fab Lashed where I provided mink lashes. Months later, I decided to go to school to pursue a license in the esthetics field where they teach you a wide range of things in the beauty industry. A month after finishing school in August 2019, I launched Fab Skincare and opened a two room suite all while working full time in a management role.

Work wasn’t a huge fan of my big dreams and later decided to let me go only six months building my business and just a few months before everything started to shut down because of COVID. Yes, I lost my job right before shut down and smart that I was saving my money beforehand. I remember driving in my car telling my fiancé the news and he gave me hope and reassured me that everything was going to be okay. It made me realize that God had a bigger plan for your girl and all this time where I had questions, he gave me the answers. It’s funny when I look back that I wanted to leave my corporate job at my year anniversary with my business, but He had other plans and thought I needed to move quicker. The moment I ended the call with my fiancé, I went to my appointment site, adjusted my working hours and made an announcement on my social media platforms that I would be working full time. It just added fuel to the fire and now I have two ladies that have joined my team in a now six room suite.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I can honestly say it’s been up and down with learning the industry, how people move and learning your clientele. Overall, it was pretty smooth all because I have such a huge support system and I had a plan prior to opening the doors to my first location. I’m a very detailed oriented person, so numbers was my thing and I had to make sure that it all made sense before I proceeded. It started out slow in the beginning of course, but because I was so determined to succeed, consistent and not wanting return back to the corporate world, my business continued to grow each week. Some struggles consisted of slow days here and there, no call no shows from new clients, but I later learned to appreciate those days. I figured that was God’s way of telling me to take some time for myself because with being a business owner, you will keep going with no gas. More struggles came along the way, but I just simply learned from them avoid making the same mistakes.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We offer facial treatments, HydraFacial, lash extensions, vaginal-steam and brow services. Our goal is to educate our clients the importance of skin care and having a daily home care regimen which can contribute to great overall skin health. If you’ve never had a facial before, then you have not lived my friend. Our most popular service is our “Pamper Me Facial” which includes chemical and mechanical exfoliation, décolleté massage, hydro-jelly mask and a chance to decompress from life. We are set apart from others by our atmosphere when you walk thru our doors, great vibes and a chance to leave your worries in our hands. I’m most proud of the continued growth my business has seen over the last year as I’ll be releasing an e-book inspired to help estheticians the way no one helped me when I first started. This is a blue print on the path that got me to where I am today. I want readers to know that self-care is very important when it comes to your mental health and that it’s ok to treat yourself.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always been an observer with a silly personality who loved basketball. Introvert at heart, but can be very personable to the right individuals.
