Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamia Travick.
Hi Tamia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a passion for hair. I started working in a salon at 15 and since then, my love has continued to grow. My inspiration for wanting to sell hair came from seeing my aunt (Demi Dixon) run her business. She let me help her sell the hair, package it, ship it off, etc. Her hard work and dedication inspired me to start my business. She continued to show the in’s and out’s of the business. I had to do research and go through trial and error to get to where I am today. I would do it all again if I had to.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it’s has not been a smooth road. It’s days or weeks you won’t make money but it’s also days when you make a lot of money and if you’re really passionate about what you’re doing, that doesn’t matter. For me, it’s about time management because being a full-time student and running a business is not easy but you have to be willing to make time for what you love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I sell high-quality hair extensions and wigs. Specifically, bundles ranging from 10 to 32 inches, lace frontal and closures, lace frontal and closure wigs in color natural brown and blonde. My business stands out because I have amazing customer service, which I think is a MUST in any type of business. Knowing how to properly communicate with others even when they’re not respectful is important. Secondly, my branding is different. It all flows together and stands out when you see it in social media. I am most proud of brand-wise is my logo. My graphic designer did an amazing job recreating my vision and I felt as if it just made everything come together exactly how I pictured it. I want you all to know that my business means the most to me. I’ve had this vision and dream of selling hair since my 10th grade year of high school. I’ve been planning, researching, and creating since then. Being able to help other boost their confidence or just help them look good means makes me happy and pushing me to keep doing what I am doing.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck is an understatement. I’ve been blessed with the support and motivation from family, friends, friends of friends and it’s just amazing to see so many supporting what was once just a dream. Though it hasn’t been easy, that makes it more of a blessing knowing I can do anything I put my time and energy into.
