Inspiring Conversations with A.E. Williams of A.E. Williams Editorial

Today we’d like to introduce you to A.E. Williams

Hi A.E., please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my editorial business as A.E. Williams Writer & Editor back in 2019. My mission was to edit and write for businesses, nonprofits, and other writers. Eventually my business became A.E. Williams Editorial, providing strictly editorial services to independent authors, publishing houses, and other editorial professionals.

My career began after graduating from Full Sail University with a BFA in creative writing, I decided to pursue an editorial career because I had been a writer all my life.

From a freelance career to a full-on editorial firm, A.E. Williams Editorial has grown significantly over our five years. We now serve five publishing houses (including a Big 5 publisher) and independent authors all around the world. The company started with me and has grown to a team of six: two junior editors, two interns, and an administrator. I’m proud of the work we’ve been able to do.

We’ve built a wonderful community of clients and made great relationships with publishers. With my team, I’m hoping to help as many writers as we can as they work to write, edit, and publish their books.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Great things are never attained easily. I struggled a great deal in the early days, never really sure where my next paycheck would come from. When working as a freelancer that is always the case, and those who work in that environment know those challenges all too well.

But after hard work and dedication, marketing, and finding the right help, I’ve been fortunate enough to grow a profitable business with an average annual revenue growth of about 55%. I’m not sure how long that average growth will remain as high, but it’s a great indicator that we’re on the right track. Last year was our highest growing year on record. We grew 47% 2024 over 2023. I’m happy with that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
