Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Day.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was in kindergarten, I wrote that I wanted to be a teacher. At the time, it felt like a simple childhood dream, but it became the foundation of everything I’ve built. Education, to me, has always been more than instruction; it is about care, connection, and cultivating potential.
As I grew into my career, I became increasingly clear about the kind of early learning environment I wanted to create. I envisioned a space that felt warm and intentional. Where children were seen as individuals, nurtured in their growth, and supported academically, emotionally, and socially. I also knew that if children were going to thrive, educators had to thrive as well. From the beginning, my goal was to build a culture where teachers felt empowered, respected, and supported as professionals shaping the future every day.
That vision became reality in June 2019 with the opening of Days R Bright Academy, just months before the world shifted with COVID. The timing tested everything, but it also strengthened our commitment. We stayed focused, remained resilient, and continued building with intention. Over the years, that consistency has shaped who we are today: a quality driven academy rooted in literacy, wellness, strong partnerships, and a belief in depth over scale.
As the academy grew, so did my understanding of the systems required to sustain meaningful work. I saw how many passionate people struggle not because they lack heart, but because they lack access to guidance, structure, and support. That realization expanded my purpose beyond one organization and into mentorship by helping others build with clarity, sustainability, and confidence.
That same desire to plant seeds early inspired me to write Elizabeth’s Entrepreneur Club, a children’s book created for my youngest daughter. It was my way of introducing young minds to the idea that creativity, leadership, and entrepreneurship are accessible and that belief in oneself can start early.
Looking back, my journey has never been about chasing growth for growth’s sake. It has been about honoring one dream and allowing it to evolve naturally into an academy, into leadership, into mentorship, and into legacy. Each chapter builds on the last, all rooted in the same intention: to nurture potential and help people grow into what they are capable of becoming.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road and honestly, if I had been able to see the full forecast ahead of time, I’m not sure I would have pursued it. But I am profoundly glad that I did.
One of the earliest challenges came before I even opened our doors. Just two weeks after signing for the building that would become Days R Bright Academy in 2018, I found out I was pregnant. Navigating pregnancy in my late thirties while working full-time in corporate America and simultaneously launching a highly regulated early education program was both physically and mentally demanding. Every decision carried weight, and every day required endurance.
Then came COVID. The impact began before the official shutdown, bringing uncertainty, fear, and constant adaptation. We didn’t remain closed for long. The families needed care, educators needed stability, and our community needed consistency. We understood that this work was not just a business; it was a lifeline for many. Showing up during that season required courage, flexibility, and an unwavering commitment to safety and purpose.
Beyond those pivotal moments, there have been countless challenges from staffing, compliance, growth decisions, and the emotional toll that comes with leading through uncertainty. What has made the journey remarkable, however, is not the absence of struggle but the transformation that comes from moving through it.
Each challenge refined my leadership. Each setback strengthened the vision. Resilience became not just a skill, but a way of operating. The triumph isn’t that the road was difficult, it’s that we kept going, learning, and building something meaningful despite it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Days R Bright Academy, LLC?
Days R Bright Academy is a purpose-driven early learning academy built on intention, excellence, and care. At our core, we specialize in cultivating environments where children are nurtured holistically, academically, emotionally, socially, and developmentally during the most formative years of life.
We are known for delivering quality over quantity. Our approach is intimate by design, allowing us to honor each child as an individual learner while fostering a culture of curiosity, confidence, and connection. Learning at Days R Bright Academy is thoughtful and relationship-centered, blending literacy, language development, wellness, and experiential learning into a cohesive, child-forward experience.
What truly sets us apart is that our commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom. We believe that thriving children are the result of aligned ecosystems so families who feel supported, educators who feel valued, and systems that are built with sustainability in mind. Our academy is intentionally structured to provide meaningful family relief through strategic support models, while also investing deeply in educator empowerment, leadership development, and career growth.
From a brand perspective, I am most proud of the trust we have built. Trust from families who choose us during some of the most important years of their child’s life. Trust from educators who see this work not as temporary employment, but as a respected profession with room to grow. And trust from partners and community leaders who recognize our academy as a standard-bearer for quality early education.
We are Quality Rated, Governor-endorsed for language and literacy, and aligned with nationally respected wellness and operational partners, not as accolades, but as reflections of our values. Everything we do is anchored in intention, integrity, and impact.
What I want readers to know most is this: Days R Bright Academy is not simply a place children attend, it is a place where foundations are formed, futures are nurtured, and excellence is quietly, consistently practiced. We are building more than an academy; we are shaping an experience that honors childhood, elevates educators, and supports families with grace and purpose.
What I’m Most Proud Of
What I am most proud of is not a single milestone or recognition, it is the culture and continuity we have built. I am proud that Days R Bright Academy stands as a place where children are genuinely honored in their earliest years, where educators are respected as professionals shaping the future, and where families feel supported, not strained, by the care they receive.
I am proud that we chose intention over scale, depth over noise, and excellence over convenience. That decision has allowed us to build something sustainable, values-driven, and deeply rooted in trust. Our brand is not defined by trends, but by consistency and showing up with integrity, care, and vision, year after year.
Most of all, I am proud that our work leaves a quiet but lasting imprint. Children leave us more confident. Educators leave us more empowered. Families leave us more connected. That is the legacy I care most about creating an environment where growth is nurtured at every level and where the impact extends far beyond our walls.
If someone looks back years from now and says that Days R Bright Academy helped shape who they became, then we will have done exactly what we set out to do.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I didn’t build this to be busy, I built it to be meaningful. When children are honored, educators are empowered, and families are supported, the impact lasts far beyond the classroom. So I stay dedicated to the purpose by prioritizing mentorship for growth.
I believe mentorship is essential and not just in one area. I often refer to my support system as a mastermind, because growth requires guidance from people with different strengths. I seek mentorship for self-care, business strategy, financial stewardship, leadership development, and long-term vision. No one excels in every lane alone, and trying to do so only slows progress.
One principle I live by is this: if I’m the most knowledgeable person in the room, it’s a sign that I need to expand my circle. That doesn’t come from ego, it comes from curiosity and a desire to grow. The goal of networking isn’t comparison; it’s elevation through proximity, learning, and perspective.
What has worked well for me is being intentional about where I place my energy. I look for environments where growth is encouraged, questions are welcomed, and excellence is the standard. Programs, peer groups, and in-person spaces designed for development have been especially impactful. While social media can be a useful tool, it cannot replace real relationships built through shared experiences and meaningful conversation.
As an introvert, networking has been a challenge but also a discipline. Growth often requires stepping beyond comfort and showing up in spaces where learning happens in real time. When you approach networking with authenticity and purpose, it stops feeling transactional and starts feeling aligned.
My advice is simple: don’t wait until you feel ready. Seek mentors early, stay teachable, and be willing to learn publicly and privately. Mentorship shortens the learning curve, protects your energy, and helps you grow with intention rather than trial and error.
