Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Young
Hi Amber, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi VoyageATL!
My name is Amber, some may know me as “DJ Poca”! I’m originally from Virginia, but moved to Atlanta in late 2021 to pursue more opportunities related to music. I worked many odd jobs related and unrelated to music to support myself, but quickly realized I was not fulfilled internally. It was during that time I began to nourish my relationship with God, and learned that I needed to be following a career path that aligned with my purpose in order to be truly happy!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. I believe our life experiences are never linear. We all go through our own ups and our own downs.
But, God has always pulled me through me some of my lowest times. It is also extremely important to have a support system in your life. I did not move to Atlanta with any friends or family, so there were many times I felt lonely, but never for very long. As time went by, I met friends that made living in Atlanta easier to navigate.
We’ve been impressed with Aura Beauty by Amber LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe my purpose is to empower people around the world to become the best versions of themselves. This inspired me to start my own beauty business, Aura Beauty by Amber LLC, doing eyebrow laminations and eyebrow tinting. A few months after starting my business, I enrolled in Esthetics school to continue to pursue my love for beauty and skincare. My mission with my business is to bring the beauty we all have within us outward to shine bright!
I am projected to graduate in the Fall of 2025, but when I’m not in school, I enjoy any activities related to fitness, wellness, health, and art. I also like making videos online to motivate others to love themselves entirely. You can catch me on my socials doing just about anything from filming hair and makeup tutorials to sharing my painting, fitness, and inspirational content.
God willing, I intend to incorporate health and wellness with beauty into my business. My goal is to create an empire of like-minded individuals who prioritize self-love and who love to uplift others to do the same!
What matters most to you?
If you can’t tell by now, God is what matters the most to me! I have never felt stronger, smarter, more talented, more courageous or more beautiful than when I’m am closest to Him in my faith walk.
