Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Finley.
Hi Angelica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Flavor Rich Restaurant and Food Truck was established in April of 2018. We started as a food truck doing festivals, private catering and lunches at different office buildings. As we started to grow and gain a following, we thought it would be a good idea for us to open a restaurant. This would give people the opportunity to experience our food in a different environment and not have to look for where we would be with the food truck. We opened Flavor Rich Restaurant in August 2020. In the middle of a global pandemic. We remained true to our commitment to great food and great service, and the restaurant grew very quickly. Most of our business came from word of mouth as well as people who had followed us with the food truck. We outgrew that space within a year. It took a few years for us to open our second restaurant in Midtown Atlanta, which opened February 2024.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been everything but smooth. We’re so blessed to be able to do what we love each and every day and provide people with a unique brunch experience that includes both great food and great service. But, with that comes its challenges. Covid hit us hard in the first and second quarter of 2020. Just like everyone else, we were not working for about 2 months. That experience was a bit more challenging because we were coming off our slow season into a time where we’re usually booked with festivals for the spring and into the summer. Everything got canceled, so that was tough. We also opened our first restaurant in the middle of a global pandemic. That was a challenge in itself. Not knowing if people would come out of the house to support us, and trying to staff the business when people are collecting so much money by not having to work. Staffing is an ongoing issue, but we do our best to make it work. Then, when we did get that overwhelming support and were able to properly staff the business, we were outgrowing the space, and our guests became frustrated with over 2-hour wait times.
The process of finding another space for our second Flavor Rich Location was another struggle. This process took over 2 years. But To God Be the Glory, we just opened our second location in Midtown Atlanta.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Flavor Rich is Chef owned and operated. So, we didn’t just start doing this because of the trend of brunch restaurants in the city. We are passionate about both food as well as serving. That’s what sets us apart from other breakfast and brunch restaurants. When you taste the food, I want you understand why we came up with the name Flavor Rich. We create our dishes based off food we enjoy eating. We also give our guests service that makes them comfortable and service that we would expect when we go out. I’m really proud of our ability to stay true to ourselves. It a lot of trends associated with brunch restaurants in the city, and our ability to give consistent quality food and service at both of our restaurants and the food truck makes me proud. I don’t want us to ever get too big where the quality of what we offer falls off.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
