Inspiring Conversations with Anne-Marie DiNardo of Compass Family Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Anne-Marie DiNardo.

Hi Anne-Marie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I worked for a chiropractor in undergrad at UGA, and I was amazed with the life-changing stories I witnessed firsthand. That experience ignited my passion for chiropractic and the respect of the human body’s ability to heal from the inside out. I knew I’d always be a chiropractic advocate, but at that time I wasn’t called to become a chiropractor. After graduating from UGA, I had a fun, successful career in real estate, but I kept feeling a tug to become a chiropractor. I saw so many stressed-out people and people who “normalized” their symptoms (or masked them with medications), and I just knew there was a better way! I can remember the day I told my (then) real estate business partner that God was calling me to become a chiropractor, and the rest is history!

In chiropractic school, I pursued my passion of specific, neurologically-based chiropractic care. I also took my love for kids and achieved advanced certifications in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic care. After chiropractic school, I worked in Charleston, SC for a year and knew that I was ready to open my own practice. It was divine intervention that led me back to Atlanta to open Compass Family Chiropractic in 2014. Being born and raised in Atlanta, it is the greatest blessing to play a part in transforming the health and well-being of so many families in this community! And shortly after opening my clinic in 2014, I met my husband, Anthony. We now have a two healthy, happy kiddos who have been adjusted since birth.  Bella is 2 ½ and Thomas is 6 months.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a practice is not easy. There were a lot of long days and sleepless nights in the beginning. And when I was a solo doc in practice, that was especially exhausting because I didn’t feel like I could close the office to take a break. In the beginning, everything fell on my shoulders, not just the patient care but the business operations. So the biggest struggle was getting a solid team in place, but now we have that! We would not be where we are today if it weren’t for our amazing team.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Compass Family Chiropractic?
We are a neurologically based chiropractic office. We see entire families and people from all ages – infancy to seniors. We have advanced certifications in pediatric and perinatal care. We don’t do the traditional twisting, popping and cracking. We utilize a gentle and specific technique so we see people get well quicker, with longer-lasting results.

We know the central nervous system is the master controller of everything in our bodies. It controls our muscles, cells, tissues and organs. So if there is stress to the nervous system, or if the nervous system is overwhelmed (which can happen as early as the birth process), it can negatively impact how our bodies function and perform. We utilize state-of-the-art technology to assess where there is the most stress to the nervous system. With neurologically based chiropractic, we decrease stress to the nervous system, so the body can heal from the inside out. We see everything from pregnant moms with sciatica, babies with constipation, toddlers with chronic ear infections, to adults with headaches and difficulty sleeping. We know that having an optimally functioning nervous system is a crucial part in our overall health and longevity.

Neurologically-based chiropractic goes beyond pain. We have a unique approach, and we love getting to celebrate alongside our patients as they achieve their goals. Our patients really are like family to us, and we are proud of the culture we have worked so hard to create.

I am grateful for my incredible team and the thriving practice we have built.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Absolutely, yes! I actually had my first child in April 2020, right when everything was shutting down. I think the greatest lesson for me was in fluidity. It was a time of unknowns and unpredictability, so the ability to pivot, adapt and confidently surrender was crucial for my mental health and the health of my business. Sometimes the best outcomes are when we have deviated from our original “plan”.

And of course the simple reminder of how precious time really is. We all know there are no guarantees for tomorrow, so it is nice to slow down and be fully present with those we love.
