Today, we’d like to introduce you to Bryttany Hyde.
Bryttany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story starts before entrepreneurship, before motherhood, and the day I stepped onto the Birmingham-Southern College campus. Stepping onto that campus shifted the trajectory of my life. I met my wonderful partner, experienced collegiate athletics, took the stage, and lost my best friend.
The day he left, I decided I would never do anything other than what I wanted for my life. Fast forward through a lot of life lessons, and I am still making that fact ring true. The Little Sober Bar isn’t my first rodeo. It’s a re-rodeo.
A “re-rodeo” is my phrase for trying something new, especially in the entrepreneurship space. My first major business was a natural baby store called LaVie Bebe, alongside my “mommy blogger” days with Hustle or Hyde. These experiences, brand partnerships, speaking gigs, and travel opportunities fueled the entrepreneurship fire within me. As my children aged, however, I took a step into the corporate world because we needed stability.
That didn’t last long before the bug bit again. First modeling, then photography, and taking a stab at product making. I ran a race with time learning all along the way. What I now realize is that it was all leading up to The Little Sober Bar. Using what I’ve learned and continue to learn, I am putting my all into this project with big dreams for the long term.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, it’s been a journey, but I’ve tried to view the struggles as opportunities to learn and grow.
Mostly, the struggles come when I park the bar, definitely still learning that one!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Little Sober Bar idea came from my own sober, curious journey. The less I drank alcohol, the more I found out about myself, from neurodivergence, mental health issues, an eating disorder, and the fact that I was truly passionate about the inclusion, flavors, and sober, curious lifestyle.
A conversation about how many people are embracing this mindful lifestyle, how nice it would be to have options, and the opportunity to purchase a 1965 Shasta Compact. In 43 days, my family renovated the camper into our mobile bar. We proved to ourselves and the people supporting us that you can do anything one day at a time.
Inclusion is what we are known for, and we have many unique options. We offer an indoor and outdoor pop-up experience with a curated menu of over 30 exceptional non-alcoholic beverages. We also handcraft zero-proof and sober curious cocktails at private events to elevate your party or corporate event for everyone invited. Additionally, we’ve created our Sober Bar Certified program.
Sober Bar Certified is a collection of exceptional establishments offering exceptional non-alcoholic options. When you see our logo, you know you have an option at that location. Want to know before you go? Check the website to see what your options are!
All of that is to say we are most proud that we are living our message to “stay curious” and improve access to a sober, curious lifestyle.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was playing “Little House on the Prairie” with my sister.
We were obsessed with the Oregon Trail, creating our covered wagons and being as creative with our resources as possible. That’s probably why I teach my kids to have a “solutions-based mindset” and to always look for ways to creatively solve problems.
