Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Garrett.
Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a productivity coach and women’s wellness advocate! A Washington, D.C., native and Tuskegee University graduate, I feel honored to serve brilliant women in leadership with practical strategies to get more done without burnout.
While I have always had a heart for community and ministry, I never planned to coach! The Momathon Movement started out as one woman who wanted to be authentic about her feelings re: loving being a mom but not liking all of the responsibility. Although raising a family is beautiful in its season, no one considers the other side of the coin – exhaustion, responding to constant needs and feeling like you’re going through a maternal identity crisis. At a certain point in your life, you have to reassess and look for what’s working versus what needs to be tweaked.
Having been happily married to my college sweetheart for almost 16 years and as a homeschooling mom, I have had my days of feeling like there was just TOO much on my plate. As a young mom of 3, postpartum depression and feeling overwhelmed became a normal routine for me. Somewhere, my mind told me that this was what motherhood was supposed to be. I mean, aren’t all of us exhausted beyond measure?
However, when Baby 4 was on the way, something clicked inside of me: I don’t want this to be my normal. I worked on why I would refuse help when my husband offered it and learned that doing more doesn’t always mean you’re more productive. I made the decision that I didn’t have to struggle my way through my motherhood season and knew that I wasn’t the only woman who felt that way. As I began to blog and speak more about my experience and resolving my challenges, the Momathon Movement was born.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Every journey and determined step comes with a challenge. I firmly believe that these challenges can manifest as disappointment when things go differently than planned, grieving the loss of opportunities, creating boundaries and learning how to preserve one’s energy.
I truly believe my biggest challenges came from redefining who I was and how I wanted to impact the world. As a fresh college graduate, I was forever changed by the sudden loss of my father. This grieving process stripped me of so much joy and instead, I struggled with the acceptance that all of us must inevitably navigate. Coupling this healing with rediscovering who I was as a woman, wife and mother, I knew that change was a must.
Instead of opting for graduate school, I focused on being a wife to my incredible husband and mom of three children age two and under. My priorities and desires for how I wanted to live my life changed. The USDA wasn’t right for me anymore, and I was okay with that. As my husband began his pastoring journey and I began to feel the pull to shift, I prayerfully embarked on a journey of redefining my womanhood and embracing seasons that were different than planned.
Our community, The Momathon Diaries, was born.

I am most proud to serve brilliant women leaders who want to do it all. They allow me to get a picture into their disorganized, very private worlds so they can redefine their priorities and stretch their wings to new levels. This is always one with the utmost discretion. Building these relationships? That is truly my deepest honor.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something interesting that most people wouldn’t know is that The Momathon Diaries was first a blog that stemmed from one woman’s transparent story – it’s okay to LOVE your family but not like all of the responsibility. The idea came to me while I was out running and worked through the brand development and ideas while training for 5ks, 10ks, and then ultimately a few half-marathons as well.
Whenever I come up again a mental roadblock or lack clarity, I go running. And the quiet moments and deep breaths always bring a solution.
