Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine M. Roberts.
Hi Christine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a student of personal growth since I was in my twenties. My childhood was all about overcoming adversity. In my home, I witnessed the negative effects of alcoholism, domestic violence, and sexual abuse and it made a profound impact on me. Rather than push me to give up, it stirred a desire in me to take control of my life and become the best possible version of myself.
Now after enjoying career success and the joys and challenges of parenting, I am more energized than ever to inspire other women to change and/or improve their mindset and make their personal goals a reality. Whatever “IT” is for them, I want to help them make it possible.
In my life, I’ve embraced the mindset: Why not me? It’s given me the courage and the freedom to run the NYC marathon twice, gain my Executive MBA without having an undergraduate degree, travel America for a year in an RV with my husband and children, start my own company and help countless businesses and leaders grow and thrive.
It is my belief that the only way you can reach your dreams is by protecting your thoughts. You can only do this when you pay attention to what you consume…what you “feed” your mind. (Philippians 4:8) Without consuming the right things, you’ll quickly find yourself drained and unmotivated to move.
When you protect your mind and spirit, you empower yourself to do great things—and the world will notice. But most importantly, you’ll have built a life on your terms and know that at the end of each day, you have no regrets.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been on my heart for years to start my own company but between not having the guts as well as the “golden handcuffs”, I just didn’t do it. My last role was handling the Southeast Region in the Advisory Group for Disney Institute. This is the division that works with organizations to take the Disney approach to culture ( leadership, employee engagement and quality service) and help other companies apply it in their business. This seemed like my dream job, which in many ways it was but then there was a reorg and then the pandemic and our division went from almost 400 employees to about 40. What seemed like a huge challenge became the catalyst for me to take action and follow what I feel that God had put on my heart so many years ago.
Having success in the corporate world for over 25 years., acquiring my MBA along with all the knowledge I’ve learned from great leaders seemed like a no-brainer for staring my own business. But it was a rude awakening…lol…the life of an entrepreneur has it’s ups and downs for sure and it has been over 2 years of tremendous growth and learning many aspects of running a business that never occurred to me…the marketing, email capture, social media, SEO, developing processes and procedures and the list goes on.
Now the great thing is that all that focus and perseverance is paying off and I have the privilege of being asked to speak for various organizations, serve on women’s leadership panels, coach incredible leaders from large well know companies, be interviewed on podcasts and love the opportunity to positively impact other. It has not been easy, however, I wouldn’t change anything and are currently setting up an infrastructure to scale.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Create Your Best Life (CYBL) at home and work partners with high-achiever leaders and organizations providing speaking/facilitation/workshops, coaching programs, as well as group and 1:1 coaching on the topics of leadership, emotional intelligence, team building and company culture.
What makes you happy?
What brings me happiness is my family, my faith, friends and the opportunity to serve others. I truly feel so blessed and thankful in my life…It is a constant journey of being intentional to create my best life and live out the purpose that God created me and leverage the gifts within me. I pray this for others…to live on purpose and realize that they are perfectly made. Where you came from or where you are today does not define who you can be or what you can accomplish in your life. When I look at where I came from there is no doubt that anyone can accomplish their dreams too.
