Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Redmond.
Hi Courtney , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, I originally set my sights on becoming an entertainment lawyer, driven by a desire to understand the business and contractual side of the music industry. But life has a way of revealing your true path. While supporting friends with massages—something that felt completely natural to me—I discovered not only a skill, but a calling.
When it came time to move out of my parents’ home and stand on my own, I knew I needed to choose a career that aligned with my gifts. In 1994, I enrolled in Nova Institute in Culver City, where I fully immersed myself in the study of human anatomy, therapeutic touch, and healing. I graduated in 1995 with a deep sense of purpose.
In 1998, I relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, a move that marked the beginning of a long and fulfilling journey as a Licensed Massage Therapist. For more than two decades, I’ve specialized in deep tissue massage for chronic pain and injuries—work that allows me to combine clinical insight with intuitive healing. Helping people move better, feel better, and get back to living fully isn’t just my profession; it’s one of my life’s callings.
I absolutely love what I do, and after nearly 30 years in the field, the work continues to be as rewarding today as it was on day one.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A career as a Licensed Massage Therapist comes with its share of ups and downs, but it’s also a path that builds tremendous character, resilience, and discipline. Success in this field requires more than technical skill—it demands commitment, consistency, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Whether it’s ensuring each client feels truly cared for, or leading and mentoring other massage therapists with the hope of guiding them in the right direction, the work calls for heart and humility.
Finding balance in this industry is not always easy. You juggle physical demands, emotional presence, and the day-to-day realities of running or contributing to a practice. Yet, despite the challenges, the reward is profound: witnessing people transform, heal, and regain their quality of life through your work. That’s what keeps you grounded, motivated, and grateful for the journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of Sequoia Massage Therapy (Deep Tissue For Chronic Pain and Injuries). For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sequoia Massage Therapy is a dedicated space for deep tissue work, chronic pain relief, and injury recovery. It’s a place where people come when they feel unseen, unheard, or have not found real solutions elsewhere. My philosophy is simple: we figure it out together. Every client becomes a partner in their own healing, and each session is guided by teamwork, communication, and trust.
We specialize in deep tissue therapy because we’ve witnessed the profound impact it can have—relieving long-standing pain, restoring mobility, and giving clients their quality of life back. Over the years, I’ve developed a range of techniques that allow me to tailor each session to the client’s exact needs. No two bodies are the same, and no two sessions should be either.
What sets Sequoia Massage Therapy apart is the level of customization, intention, and clinical insight behind every treatment.
What I am most proud of is the consistency of results my clients experience, and the respect they show for the work I do. My clients know I’m fully invested in their progress. At Sequoia, you can feel secure, supported, and confident that someone is genuinely listening and committed to helping you reach your goals.
We offer 60-minute, 90-minute, and 2-hour deep tissue sessions—each one dedicated entirely to your healing and your time. To learn more or schedule a session, visit SequoiaTherapy.com or call/text 404-662-3157.
“The Place to Leave your Pain Behind”
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I appreciate most about Atlanta is the tremendous opportunity it offers for small businesses to thrive. This city truly supports entrepreneurs from every angle—from council members who advocate for local growth, to organizations like Invest Atlanta that provide real resources, to the community members who genuinely value and support your craft. Atlanta is a city that continues to evolve, and with that growth comes room for people to pursue their dreams and build something meaningful.
One of the challenges I see in our city is the inconsistency in customer service. I believe every client or customer deserves to feel acknowledged, respected, and welcomed the moment they walk into a space. Strong customer service requires integrity, accountability, and the willingness to truly listen so you can help others reach a resolution. When these elements are missing, it affects the connection and trust that businesses should be building with their community.
