Inspiring Conversations with Dali Brown of Beau Charms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dali Brown.

Hi Dali, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started last year making lip gloss then I realized that wasn’t for me. I wanted something more hands on. Something that would show my creativity. I ordered a designer charm bangle set from Etsy. I thought to myself “this is so nice. I can make these”. But I didn’t where to start or where to purchase anything from. I started watching YouTube videos. I wrote everything down in a notebook and started searching for items online. I never paid for a vendor list or anything like that. I did my own research for about a month and found a few overseas vendors that I trust. I started off making single bangles with three charms and it took me forever, lol. Today, I can make 15-20 bangles in 30 mins or less. My technique is amazing. This was the better choice for me than the lipgloss business and I’m glad I made this decision. I’m not where I want to be yet but I’m slowly growing and I will continue to elevate.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Honestly, it’s not always a smooth road. You definitely have to promote your business and constantly create content on all social media networks in order to build your sales and followers. Targeting my audience has been one of my hardest challenges. Some days I would receive ten or more orders, and some days I will not get any orders at all. Also being a mommy of 2, trying to balance everything can also be a challenge for me.

We’ve been impressed with Beau Charms LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Beau is short for beautiful. So I decided to name my business Beau Charms. I specialize in charm bracelets, charm bangles, croc charms, etc. I am a young African American woman who is very passionate about my business. I also was inspired by the company Alex and Ani because it looks similar to how they make theirs. The charms are mostly replica charms from high-end luxury companies. I also use regular charms to combine the designer charms to create a set. Just being able to style my bangles and bracelets how I want such as color coordination or adding more than one style to create a beautiful finish. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned about vendors, wholesale and the overall services. The experience has been amazing. I want people to know my brand is very unique, stylish, creative and 100% legit. Quality is everything to me and I sell nothing but the best. I want to make people feel beautiful and their jewelry to look expensive but very budget-friendly. Everything on my website is under $50.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Advice I would give to anyone starting a business is to create a business plan first. Choose the right business for you. Write down everything and be sure that’s what you want to do before spending your money. You have to be passionate about your brand. Aim to succeed and never give up.
