Inspiring Conversations with Daniel Borrás of Flow Coffee Roasters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Borrás. They and their team shared their story with us below:

The owners and founders of Flow Coffee, Daniel and Taylor, have been working in coffee for almost a decade. They met in Argentina where they both worked in the coffee industry for many years. The brand originated because they saw a need to create different experiences with coffee in regard to coffee processes and varieties in Atlanta. The coffees they roast are all Colombian in origen which is where Daniel is from. Colombia is not only one of the most well-known coffee-producing countries in the world but it is also the only country that produces every coffee variety and is making headlines for its advances in coffee processing and fermentation. Flow Coffee hopes to provide the people of Atlanta with new experiences and opportunities to try coffees that are leading the way to the future of coffee.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the challenges is breaking the cycle people are used to with drinking coffee merely for the caffeine fix. The majority of the population associate drinking coffee as an “on the go” transaction which is not to say it’s not a valid association, but what Flow wants to do is to provide a space where people can slow down and maybe drink coffees they’ve never had before. Show them that coffee can also taste different and there’s more to coffee than the dark roast coffee they might be more accustomed to.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Currently, we are doing a pop-up every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 7am – 11am on the West End of the Beltline. Cultured South (home of Golda Kombucha) has kindly let us use their space. We have 15 different options on our manual pour-over brew bar which is not very common to see and would love for the Atlanta community to come check us out! We also have some espresso options such as latte’s and americano’s and have a couple of specialty coffee drinks as well.

We are working on building up our wholesale division. You can find us at Con Leche in Reynoldstown. They’re serving our coffee on a drip and for their iced coffee as well as bags of retail coffee in their shop.
