Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Bryant.
Danielle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At a young age, I often dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur. There were always some reservations as to whether my dream would come true because of my problem of severe shyness. I have an admiration for fashionable jewelry, purses and working with children. In 2005, my journey started as a student at Fort Valley State University majoring in Business. During my senior year, I became pregnant, dropped out of school, and moved back home. At that point, with the responsibility of a child, I landed a job with a federal agency. My dissatisfaction with my current situation led me to enroll in Atlanta Metropolitan College where I received an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. As time passed, I was blessed with a son and another daughter and got married. Striving to climb the career ladder, I received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University and began working as a paraprofessional in an elementary school. After having received Paraprofessional of the Year award, I developed a real passion for teaching which I decided would be my goal. Further, I began thinking of other ways of making extra money. In 2017, I was introduced to a fashionable jewelry business by a former classmate. Observing her work her business inspired me to begin my fashionable jewelry business. At first, promoting my business was somewhat hampered due to my extreme shyness in talking to people. In 2020, a divorce left me depressed and I took a break from my business endeavor. Believing in God and talking with supportive family members and friends provided the motivation I needed. I concur with Albert Einstein when he wrote, “In the midst of every crisis, lies a great opportunity.” Being a devoted single mother to three children, I want the best for them which includes living a successful life. It was my children who inspired me to relaunch my business in August of 2020. Coupled with my desire to have a business and reaping the financial benefits, it is my opinion that there are lessons that my children can learn from my business journey. Learning and practicing business skills helped to alter my life in a positive way. As a result, I am more confident, fearless, and outspoken. My business journey has been a rewarding experience. Working as a full-time teacher keeps me busy. However, there is much gratification in knowing that I am making a difference in the lives of my students. The announcement of my name as Teacher of the Month in September has driven me to continue my passion with full speed. What an incentive it was for me to have received the Teacher of the Month award during my first year of tenure! This journey has given me the courage to step out on faith and pursue both of my passions and continue working on a master’s degree. My experiences have taught me how to withstand testing times in my business and daily life. The journey of my business has been one of the best decisions that I have made. It has led to the person that I am today and to many rewarding opportunities for my children and me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been easy. To be successful, one must experience struggle to understand success. Overcoming self-doubts, fear and shyness have been my biggest obstacles. In 2020, when I experienced a divorce, it forced me to work harder. I still face challenges as a single mother of three, a teacher while working toward a master’s degree. Time management can be challenging at times when running my business. Some days are hectic and overwhelming, but I refuse to give up. I am determined to pursue and maintain a positive mindset. I give thanks to my Creator, my parents and family for their support. Without them, life could be even more challenging.
We’ve been impressed with Dainty Jewels by Danielle, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dainty Jewels by Danielle features jewelry for women and men. There are various styles of jewelry from which to choose, such as casual, dainty, jazzy, urban, chic, bold and bling. Dainty Jewels means finding your beauty and building your confidence. I inspire to make people look beautiful by wearing jewelry and make them feel better within themselves while believing in themselves. One thing I believe sets me apart from others is my perseverance, positive attitude and making my customers feel good about themselves.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a girly girl who was born reared in Atlanta. I have so much respect and admiration for my parents. My mother is a beautiful, fashionable lady. My father, a “sticker” for being on time, has extremely good work ethic. Growing up as an only child, I was spoiled. I was very shy and quiet when it came to speaking in public. However, I managed to become an honor roll and well-rounded student. I enjoyed hanging out with friends and having fun. I have always been dedicated, caring, independent and determined in all of my endeavors.
