Today we’d like to introduce you to David “Denver” Merismé.
Hi David “Denver”, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Woah, that’s a pretty loaded question! I grew up in New York, The Hudson Valley, 845 to be more exact. A place called Rockland County. I had a very arduous, turbulent, and troubled childhood which ultimately lead me to want to help people by creating an impact in what I knew best, which was the Electronic Dance Music Community and Culture. This was my first taste of being an entrepreneur. I just had it in me; the fight, the determination, the dream, and the vision to be GREAT! In 2015 I traveled the county and went to 23 music festivals between March and October. Going through what I did fueled my dreams which turned into goals that eventually turned into my beautiful reality. That beautiful reality was my first company; Glockwork Records; that I started on the Summer Solstice of 2016 at 21 years young. I quickly grew Glockwork Records to an income-producing brand by vertically integrating distribution, publishing and promoting, hosting, and playing shows. I was able to host 2 country-wide tours and helped pave the path for many artists in the EDM. More than 100 artists had their first label release on Glockwork Records. Throughout this whole process, I built up my business acumen, marketing skills, and promotion skills which then introduced me to my second love; artist management and business incubation.
I realized how I loved being the voice for people and how my upbringing showed me that my voice is powerful. My first business showed me the power of business and networking. I turned these two passions into my second business; Inner Workings Management. Inner Workings Management opened up my sights to many different industries outside of music and entertainment which is something my heart craved. I found mentors from many different industries such as mindset, business, mental and spiritual health, just to name a few, which allowed me to collaborate in many fields including graphic design, technology, website development, holistic health, credit repair/financial literacy, and lastly the third major industry I have grown to love; real estate.
Real estate is my current venture and I will definitely have to keep you informed on how it is going. It has definitely been an interesting one at that, but definitely in the best of ways. It has taught me so much in regard to how investors think about the #1 asset class in the world. I realize the true gold in my life is the knowledge I have and will continue to provide value to anyone or company I interact with and how regardless of the struggles I have been through, I am who I always dreamed of being.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Sheesh, it for sure wasn’t a smooth road. I have had to grow some tough skin, shout out to my Amazing mother Myrlande Merisme, Grand Mother, Yolanda Merismé, and my Grand Father, Jean Merismé. Growing up in New York, there was a point in my life I had 4 jobs at one time to provide for myself and my mother and family. I have had to overcome people doubting me and imposter syndrome in all the things I do and manifest in my life. I have had to also deal with a great deal of racism and people taking advantage of my kindness to the world.
My mother grew up a single mother who came here from Haiti when she was 21 years old and has had to manifest and pave a way for herself and she can do it, there’s no way that I can possibly fail.
