Today we’d like to introduce you to Deidre Gaskin.
Hi Deidre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I’m a country girl, but I have city dreams, meaning I dream HUGE! Once I graduated high school, I made up my mind right then that my hometown would not be my home, so I went on to go to college and graduated with 4 degrees. I started my PR Firm, MayLee Media, shortly after receiving my bachelor’s as a way to honor my late grandmother, but then, it grew to me wanting to be a servant to others. The Bible says, “The greatest among you is a servant.” With that, I wanted to express the gift of servitude through PR and entrepreneurship. Nowadays, you can find me educating other students on PR and how to navigate the industry as a publicist. In addition to teaching, I’m a wife and new mommy while being a devoted member to my church, RTY Global Ministries.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! Lack of financial means and support weighed heavy on me in the beginning. Not to mention the domestic violence, mental struggles, and criticism I endured along the way. Even now, trials exist, but I’m learning not to respond to it and give it power but just learn to trust God for the plans HE has for me and be okay with that.

MayLee Media was a sports and lifestyle PR agency where we specialized in developing PR campaigns for athletes, sports and business professionals, ministry leaders, authors, and lifestyle events. I believe what set me and my firm apart was honesty & being realistic about what can and cannot be achieved. In addition to honesty, I would say integrity. This business can be very difficult and very nasty, so I try my best not to be either of those and to have a real love for my clients to see them prosper. My proudest accomplishment in my business is actually launching it. As someone who grew up in a small town, entrepreneurship was foreign so to go on and work with well-known people and build a brand off it makes me very proud.
Any big plans?
Honestly, I’m trying to figure the next part of this journey out. My greatest goal is to become the best woman of God, wife, and mom I know how to be while growing in grace every day. However, I still want to be of service because I genuinely love helping others.
