Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story started November 1991 with an idea my business partner and I had to start a Marketing Research Company. The name was formed in her spare bedroom on a scratch pad, and later, a logo was designed. I am happy to report that we still are operating that company, V&L Research and Consulting, Inc.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is not always easy running a business day to day. It takes money to run a business and if there are no contracts in the hopper, it is pretty hard to keep it going. So, there are cash flow struggles, people struggles, both contract workers and clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
V&L Research and Consulting, Inc. started during the month of November 1991, and became incorporated November 2, 1992. V&L offers over 50 years of experience in market research and consulting. With this experience comes skills and commitment to the highest standards for information collection, data processing, analysis, and report generation.
We understand that in these times of increasing competition, practical and reliable information can be one of the most important factors in our client’s success. Research is a primary ingredient for providing information about their marketplace, their competition and the impact on their organization. Through the years, we have been able to offer solutions through the delivery of accurate, timely, and cost-efficient information. V&L provides our clients with the information they need to make decisions on how to serve their customers more efficiently and profitably.
The primary mission of V&L is to provide our clients with reliable research services and continuous support. Our business philosophy is based on client service; our goal is customer satisfaction. We take pride in our responsiveness to client requests and our ability to provide personal attention to detail. V&L works as a part of our client’s team, respecting their views, objectives, and budget constraints.
Though economic times for businesses have been challenging, V&L is proud to report that this November, will be our 33rd year in business.
Our Services Include: Full-Service Market Research Company conducting qualitative (focus groups, in-depth interviews; Ethnographies) and quantitative research (telephone and intercept surveys) with General market as well as expertise in specialty markets: African American; Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Elderly; Teenagers/Youth; Rural; Wealthy/Affluent consumers and Low/moderate-income consumers. We also conduct Community Assessments, Advertising/Campaign Development and testing, Customer Satisfaction Studies, Product Development and Improvement Studies, and Strategic Planning/Foundational Studies.
How do you define success?
I define success as being the best that you can be. Doing the best that you can do. Whether it is personal or business, just be your best and do your best. Oh, and always be your authentic self.
