Today we’d like to introduce you to Devon Johnson.
Hi Devon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve had an idea for an Atlanta themed brand for at least seven years now. I always stopped cause everything can feel so overdone plus it’s only so many TI and Gucci Mane Tshirts you can sell before you get shut down. This idea came together because I wanted something that would put on for the entire metro area. If you spend enough time outside you’ll realize this is a commuter city, everyone be everywhere lol. You might live in Gwinnett but be in Atlanta more than people that live there and vice versa, just depends of what you have going on. The region I’m speaking of is every county that shares a direct border with Fulton, 11 counties total. It’s a huge area but I promise you, once you’ve lived out here for a couple years it all kinda feels like one big place. Regardless of what narratives they push it really is one of the best metro areas to live in, that’s why they keep moving here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A lot of my ideas come from things that I see. I don’t always get exactly what I’m going for the first time but I’m making most things by hand so I have plenty opportunity to try different things out.
We’ve been impressed with Piedmont North Georgia, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Piedmont North Georgia is clothing brand that celebrates the Metro Atlanta area. I’m highlighting the Counties that share a direct border with Fulton, 11 in total. I personally feel like we get a bad wrap because of some traffic and a couple people on Twitter. When you really think about it if you have a car it’s a million things to do out here. I personally love my city. We’re just here to switch the Narrative that’s why the tag line is “the greatest place on earth”
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
It warms my heart when I see people getting value from things I made. Success for me is people actually wearing the brand I like to see my pieces out in public
