Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Montano.
Hi Diana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our story began with my mom, Magdalena Velasquez. She came to the U.S. from El Salvador at 17 with nothing but faith and determination. What started as a small dream to build a better life eventually grew into Boutique Y Joyería, which has been serving the Marietta community since 2013.
My sisters and I literally grew up inside the business. Coming from an immigrant household, we learned early what hard work and resilience look like. As we got older, we each stepped in naturally: my sister Jennifer, who is now the owner of Graceful Events, brought her fashion background and creativity; and I applied my business degree to help structure and grow the boutique. Together, with our mom’s leadership, we’ve built something that feels like both a business and a family legacy.
Today, we specialize in creating custom gowns from scratch and helping make our clients’ dream looks a reality. We also offer quinceañera and bridal wear, 14k gold jewelry, party supplies, and meaningful religious gifts. And with Graceful Events, Jennifer provides full event décor and venue services with the same care and creativity that define our family business.
It’s been a journey filled with challenges, faith, and a lot of learning — but everything we’ve built came from starting with nothing but a dream, and growing it together as a family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our journey has been full of challenges and hard work. As a first-generation family, my mother faced countless obstacles, especially coming to a new country with so little. Building something from the ground up wasn’t easy, navigating a business without prior experience tested her in every way, and we hustled every single day to make it work.
There were moments when the dedication it took to keep going felt overwhelming. But we leaned on each other, drawing strength from our family bond and shared vision. Working together as a team has always been what kept us afloat, giving us the courage to face every challenge head-on.
I watched Jennifer and my mother work tirelessly, and I followed right behind them, learning along the way.
Some days were harder than others, mistakes happened, plans fell through, and the path forward wasn’t always clear. Still, we kept showing up, figuring it out together, and trusting the process.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Boutique Y Joyeria Librería Cristiana Dios De Pacto ?
We specialize in custom dresses and ballgowns for life’s once-in-a-lifetime events, like quinceañeras, weddings, proms, and other celebrations. At our boutique, we offer fine Italian 14k gold jewelry, watches, silver, perfumes, party accessories, religious items, and all types of formal wear for the entire family.
What sets us apart from other boutiques is that we custom-make our gowns in-house — something many boutiques don’t offer. Majority of our dresses are one-of-a-kind, tailored to each client, ensuring that their special day is truly unforgettable.
Jennifer also leads Graceful Events, our full-service event company, which allows us to create complete celebration packages including the venue, styling, and even photographers. Not many boutiques have a sister company working alongside them to provide these all-in-one packages for their clients, making planning easier and the experience seamless.
We are most proud of our ability to bring dreams to life with a personal, family touch in everything we do. From designing a custom gown to coordinating a full event package, our goal is to make every milestone as magical and memorable as possible. At our boutique, it’s more than shopping, it’s celebrating life’s most special moments.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is the days my mom would take me and my sisters with her into the big city to shop for inventory or supplies in New York. We didn’t really understand what “business” was back then; to us, it just felt like an adventure. I remember all of us closely following my mom through busy aisles while she compared products or talked to vendors.
My sisters and I would turn everything into a game: pretending we were little salesgirls, helping “organize” things, or whispering to each other about which item was our favorite.
Looking back, I realize those moments weren’t just errands they were the beginning of everything. That’s where we first saw my mom’s determination, her work ethic, and her dream. And without even knowing it, those childhood trips became the foundation of the business we now run together.
I’ve always liked to say my mom’s business started in the ’80s, when she was a Mary Kay representative going door to door with bags full of products. From there, she began selling watches and gold—never having a storefront. And even without a store, she made it work.
As a child, I didn’t understand the weight she carried—mom was exhausted. The sacrifices she made for a better life for the four of us were immense. But now, as an adult running the business she started, those memories hit differently.
