Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Maya Taylor.
Hi Dr. Maya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
15 years ago I founded the award winning Arrow Youth Leadership Council International (formerly the South Fulton Arrow Youth Council) to raise up the next generation of global leaders. We train youth to target their potential and change our world as thought leaders, change leaders, focused leaders and servant leaders.
We work closely with municipalities, schools, churches, businesses and community organizations to mentor youth to lead as business and social change agents through our annual programs that target youth wellness, socio-economic redesign, social justice and educational equity.
Milestones include:
*Play4PeaceAtl anti-violence campaign with professional, local and international sports teams and organizations 2015- 2025
*Black Wallstreet 2.0 campaign – Jr. Chamber launch in partnership with the Greater South Fulton Chamber of Commerce 2020 – 2022
*Declaration of Emergency for the youth of the State of Georgia. Working on the bill currently 2023 – 2025
*GenZ Constitution drafted 2021. Invited to the Department of Justice 2023 to discuss this formal document and it received affirmation from the DOJ
*Designed a micro-city in line with their GenZ Constitution in July 2023. Currently working with commercial real estate companies to make their micro-city a reality.
*Launched the Black LenZ Youth Film Festival in 2022 in partnership with film industry leaders to tell the story of their GenZ Constitution pillars (social wellness, social economic, social justice and educational equity
*Summer STEAM camps for elementary students
*Summer Leadership Institute for middle and high school students. High level career and professional development
*Annual Spring Break college and career tours
*We established a separate LLC in 2025
*We established a separate 501c4

*International Youth Play4Peace Summit
*Launch our Regional Youth Business incubator and Jr. Chamber
*Open more Arrow Arrow Chapters in partnership with local and regional cities and schools
*Develop the Micro-City

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been easy financing our world impactful work. But because I am committed to lighting the torch of leadership in our youth, I am confident that our work will build a lasting legacy and leave a footprint in the sands of time. I appeal to every legacy driven adult to make the future of your children a priority and give back to worthy organizations such as ours. What was your favorite childhood memory?
I am a product of mentorship and how it can be the difference in a child’s life. I was mentored through a local choir that served youth for over 20 years by giving them a positive option during after school and weekend experiences
