Inspiring Conversations with Edgar Castillo of EIC Property Inspections

Today we’d like to introduce you to Edgar Castillo.

Hi Edgar, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today.  So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us  through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Edgar Iván Castillo Brito I am 26 years old and I am  from Ecatepec de Morelos, Mexico. My mom and I both came for a  better opportunity when I was 8 years old. When I was graduating  middle school one of the speakers said something that really caught  my attention. “If you love what you do you’ll never work an entire  day in your life” and that really stuck with me. Since then I’ve  worked in several industries but always felt like I could do more.  I’m the kind of person that wants to lead and do things on my own  so in 2020, when the pandemic had just began, I got the opportunity  to start my own home inspection company and i confidently took the  chance. My mom whose a realtor mentioned how they’re isn’t many  home inspectors who are bilingual and that I could really make an  impact by being there for the Hispanic community. Since then the  company has exceeded all my expectations and I’m excited for what  the future holds.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would  you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road at all. (haha) Starting a  business takes a lot of trial an error and being able to take criticism  that you may not want to hear. They’re is a lot of obstacles that  came along with but you have to be able to take the punches and  punch back. Once you understand that making mistakes is part of  the journey you no longer see it as an inconvenience but a lesson  that can help you along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we  know?
I am a bilingual home inspector that specializes in residential home  inspections. I work with real estate agents and their clients by doing  their inspections before they decide to buy a home. I also do several other inspections such as pre-listing home inspections, mold  inspections, radon inspections, and more.

I am known for offering great customer service and same-day  reports. I think what sets me apart from others is my customer  service. I am always there for the client 24/7 from the moment I  start the inspection to when they close and even after if they need  any advice or tips on their home.

My biggest achievement is knowing I did it on my own and I proved  several people wrong. Your age doesn’t defy you; the hunger you  have to grow does. As long as I can, I will always innovate and try  to grow the brand into the biggest company it can be while also  remembering that our customers depend on us for their safety and  well-being. Knowing that a few years ago I was struggling hard and  barely making it to being able to invest more into the business has  been the biggest achievement to me and I feel like I’m just getting  started.

I want the readers to know that I will work for you and put you first.  We offer multiple home inspection services and I will do my best to  ensure that you are well taken care of.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if  any, you feel it’s played for you?
I had to think hard about this one because at first I thought I was  lucky to be where I am today but, I don’t think luck really exists for

business owners. My work and perseverance is what has gotten me  to where I am today and luck is a really small part of that. I feel  blessed and happy to be where I am today and I wouldn’t have  gotten here if I didn’t work my ass off and push for better things. If  you wait for luck to happen you could be missing out on what your  true calling could be so don’t think about getting lucky. A business  grows based off what the owner and what he can do to make the  business better. Earlier I mentioned the quote that really inspired me  to be a business owner and I think loving what you do plays a huge  part of being successful and that has very little to do with luck.
