Today we’d like to introduce you to Eldica Taylor.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I took cosmetology as an elective at my high school in Florida but ended up choosing a different career path when I graduated. After moving to Georgia, I went on to get my degree at a local college and kept working. However, I had always been interested in the beauty industry, and I knew I wanted to get back to it. I ended up taking a lash extension course in 2017 after getting my own lashes done for the first time (and falling in love with them!). It started out as a hobby and quickly turned into a part-time job. I figured it was time to take it more seriously, so I pursued my education in esthetics. I received my professional license and opened up my spa suite in the summer of 2022. That’s where I’ve been ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road! Keeping up with school, work, and my personal life was difficult at times. I had to take a leave of absence from school for a family emergency. Then after getting settled back in, the Covid pandemic hit and devastated all of our lives. Sometimes the schools are unorganized, sometimes you don’t have enough moral or financial support, sometimes you’re not feeling good, but you know you have to keep going. Then once you get into the field, you’ll have to deal with certain state and county/city regulations. You have to stay on point at all times. There is insurance, supplies, permits, licenses, inspections, customers, and competition…all of which come with their own obstacles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about MochaBella Spa?
MochaBella Spa is a mini spa that caters to people from all walks of life. I am the owner and sole service provider, so I devote 100% of my attention to my client for each appointment. Currently, I specialize in lash extensions, brow tinting and waxing, and facials. People know me mainly for my lash styles and being able to customize their looks to their liking. I’ve been in the industry since 2017, and I’ve learned alot about people and meeting their needs. I’m extremely big on providing a safe atmosphere and great customer service to everyone that enters my doors. I rarely will have an unhappy client, but if so, I am fair and reciprocal in my policies. I’m adamant about treating people the way that I’d like to be treated, and I stand on that.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
For work, my favorite resource is youtube. I love Lia Leigh (she’s also an esthetician) and the vlogs and magazines from ASCP skincare. I also love The Skincare Answer Book by Mark Lees. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle and The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron have been amazing for motivation and helping to stay grounded.
