Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Bayliss
Hi Eric, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The Journey to Crew started before I graduated highschool. When I was in highschool, I had a severe football injury. I was diving to make a tackle, and my head got compressed into my neck.
I had spinal shock in my neck, so I could hardly use my arms for six months.
On an ordinary day, I happened to meet a friend at the lake who was a chiropractor. I caught him up on my football injury and its effects, and he offered to evaluate my injury to see if there was any way he could help me heal naturally. To say I was skeptical is an understatement… I had experienced numerous doctor visits and was still unable to lift my arms above my shoulders. I didn’t grow up around chiropractors and I wasn’t very familiar with chiropractic care, but I was intrigued and willing to try anything that could potentially help me move my arms.
I went into his office with a lot of doubt, but more as a friend who had nothing to lose. He did a series of evaluations – nerve scans, x-rays, digital posture analysis – and he pointed to exactly where my issue was stemming from.
He made a gentle, specific adjustment right there that day, and when I got up, I went from not being able to use my arms very much at all to clapping my arms above my head immediately.
I looked at him like, ‘What did you just do??’
I didn’t understand what had happened, but I was immediately intrigued and knew I was about to embark on learning how to do exactly what he did for me for other people. Those were some of the most significant minutes of altering the direction of my life.
This chiropractor graciously supported me in going to LIFE University shortly after to study chiropractic care…and the rest is history.
Today, we’re 6 years into bringing chiropractic care to people in our community who have experienced injuries, but our true passion at Crew is much more broad and opened up to daily wellness and enabling families to experience a lifestyle of improvement, health, and feeling their best everyday.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have certainly been bumps along the way! We have experienced growing pains as we have added and changed staff members but when the team is aligned on our mission – increasing the health of our community through excellent chiropractic care and customer experience, we have alwaws been able to weather the storms and come out stronger and more experienced on the other side.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a chiropractic office that specializes in sports, pediatric, and prenatal chiropractic and in spinal decompression and neuropathy. We also offer a range of wellness services including in house massage therapy and PEMF therapy.
We strive to set ourselves apart from a traditional doctor’s office from the moment our patients walk through the door. Our office environment is warm and friendly – offering snacks and coffee to enjoy during appointments. Our goal is for someone to feel better just walking through our doors, even if they never experience a service.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have a few mentors that I have relied on heavily in my years since graduating from Life University and their influence on my life and business has been monumental. When running a business, it is very easy to get bogged down in the day to day running of the business and mentors are able to help you continue to also see the big picture, the why!
My advice for finding a mentor is to look within your specialty for someone who is running their business in the way you dream – of – systems, procedures, growth, etc – and then reach out. Ideally, you can work under them for a period while in school or just out of school – really learn how they think and run their businesses.
