Inspiring Conversations with Fátimah Bah of Bella Dior Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fátimah Bah.

Hi Fátimah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To share a little about my background, I was introduced to the beauty at a very young age. Being the daughter of two African immigrants, my parents came with the idea of the American dream. While my father went to school to obtain his PHD in Economics, my mother braided hair at home. Then when my older sister opened her own hair salon, I was the first in line to help. That is where hairstyling really began to peak my interest. Around the 6th grade, I started braiding friends’ hair and eventually I started working on to weekends at a family friend’s hair salon. Fast forward to 2012, I became pregnant with my oldest daughter while attending Paul Mitchell of Charlotte. Unfortunately, I didn’t complete the program but my dream never died.

A few years later I moved to New York and began working at H&M as a Visual Merchandiser full-time. Once I got accustomed to my career in fashion, my love of hair still called me. So, I went back to hair school, and I completed the program. Then moved to good ole Atlanta and life hit me again when I was forced to have to go back to school to get more hours. After much perseverance and determination, on July 17th, 2022, I completed my hours and I am now on my way to State Board and my dream career.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not I’ve faced many obstacles from being a single mother working full time and going to school full time the road hasn’t been easy. But I thank god for my two girls and my Rock Pele my youngest daughter’s father for believing in me and my dreams.
