Hi Folake, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
From an early age, I naturally took the lead when it came to organization and execution with attention to every little detail. Never brushing over anything even as insignificant as it might seem. Right from high school, I was always the entertainer and rallying point amongst my friends the one setting up surprise parties and dreaming up ideas for our milestone celebrations. These qualities never left me.
While living in Nigeria, I served as the Social Secretary for the Parents’ Teachers Association at my children’s school.
That role stretched me in new ways; I learned that I wasn’t just planning social gatherings but creating events that served as an outlet for the school, so the stakes were high. During my tenure, I introduced an annual ‘Disco’ event to the school. The maiden edition was tagged ‘Reliving the Old School Days’ and the goal was to bring parents and teachers together in a relaxed, non-formal atmosphere where everyone could unwind, dance and truly connect.
My imaginative nature, the gift of creating possibilities in my mind and turning them into tangible experiences became the foundation for everything that followed. My friends often sought my input when planning events, and I found myself not just offering advice but getting hands-on with vendor connections and logistics. What started casually soon evolved into something more; they began offering to pay for my help, and through their satisfaction and referrals, my passion transformed into a professional service
With all these experiences combined, it became clear that my passion needed a structured direction and Events O’clock was founded. Since its inception in 2019, Events O’clock has gradually gained traction through client-centric approach and authentic relationships.
Looking back, building a business around my natural talent has been one of my most rewarding decisions. It allowed me to turn what comes naturally into purpose and serve others through what I love doing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, it hasn’t been completely smooth, and I’d say it’s played out in a couple of ways. First, building the right team of people who truly connect with your level of passion and are willing to work closely with you is not always easy. Everything I’ve undertaken has been grounded in one principle that mediocrity simply isn’t an option. I’ve learned that the smallest details often make the biggest difference. That approach has helped me attract some amazing people, vendors, and collaborators, but yes…. there’s a price to pay with folks with a different mindset.
Then, there’s the challenge of growing the business without letting standards slip. As things scale, you need processes, and discipline to make sure the quality that defines your brand doesn’t get compromised. Balancing all these with client expectations is constant along with making sure everyone on the team shares the same mindset that we cannot be deficient when client entrusts their celebration in our hands.
But honestly, those bumps along the road have been invaluable. They’ve taught me resilience and reminded me how important it is to surround myself with people who are just as committed to excellence as I am.

Events O’clock is a full-service event planning company based in Atlanta and we are renowned for our seamless execution of local, out-of-state, and destination events.
We offer services for any kind of event and gathering mainly weddings, milestone celebrations and corporate events. Our services rests on different layers of Planning, Day-Of coordination and Decor. We can even combine these services; it just depends on how much a client wants to involve us.

I’m a playful impressionist. I can mimic just about anything about a person, from their mannerisms to how they speak or walk, usually just for laughs within my circle of family and friends but it has actually taught me a lot about reading people, which has been surprisingly useful in my work.
