Inspiring Conversations with Fonda Prioleau of Nurse Fonda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fonda Prioleau.

Hi Fonda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my health care career as a Certified Nursing Assistant over 20 years ago. I became a Registered Nurse in 2010. Med-Surg nursing is where my journey began. Throughout my years in nursing, I have gained extensive experience while working with Heart Failure, COPD, Diabetes and most recently, Post op Care. In 2015, I relocated from charlotte to ATL. I am now living out my passion of being a nurse entrepreneur and providing Top notch care to Post Surgical patients all around the south as well also training and coaching other nurses around the United States on how to build their own recovery nursing business from the ground up.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My journey in life has been one for the books. I was extremely sick the day before my high school graduation. I know everyone says this but that is really when my whole life changed…literally! I quickly went from high school graduate to teen mother and that’s when the hustle began. I knew it was all on me to provide and make a way for me and son, but nursing wasn’t the first stop! I started my career as a CNA and slowly worked my way up to phlebotomy and then went on to work as a unit secretary at a hospital. You would think nursing school would be in the cards for me from there, right?! Nope! It wasn’t going to be that easy! I applied to nursing school and got turned down 3 times and waitlisted twice. Everyone knows that 3rd time a charm though, so after relocating and applying 1 last time I got in, once I was in, there was no stopping me. Med Surg became my life for three years. In 2013, I was blessed with a job at one of the world’s largest medical insurance companies where I am now a case manager. We all know everyone needs a side hustle though, and in 2019 I combined my medical experience with my passion for caring for others and nurse Fonda’s post op care services were born.
