Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibbie Aromolaran.
Hi Ibbie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Dating & relationships are not exactly taught to us. There’s the assumption that we just fall in love and live happily ever after, but that’s not exactly how it works. When I started dating as a young adult, I operated in the “follow your heart” mindset and found myself in situations that could have easily been avoided if I had only had the tools needed to cultivate healthy relationships. When I realized that other women were experiencing the same struggle love I was experiencing, I knew there had to be a deeper reason. I thought, “there’s no way we’re all just out here going through the same thing. What’s the science behind it?” So I dove into learning all about the psychology of relationships, trauma bonding, codependency, toxic love and “entanglements/situationships”. Once I started going after what I want in relationships, I began teaching women how to do the same because we all deserve better! I got my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling then went on to get certified as a dating & relationship coach. I am now in my PhD program researching about dismissive avoidant attachment in romantic relationships. I own & operate my own coaching business as a dating & relationship coach who helps women move on from toxic love, heal and gain the tools needed to find and secure happy, healthy love!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I suppose my biggest challenge has been comparisonitis, which is the act of comparing oneself to others. Sometimes I thought, “this has already been done before. What could I really add to the field?” I took a lot of time off of my business when it wasn’t producing the results I desired quickly enough. I would find myself looking at people who had achieved what I want to achieve without even considering the idea that they might be on step 50 while I’m only just getting started. I polluted my mind with all the seemingly successful business coaches teaching, “quit your job, throw yourself into your business, start making millions” while not even considering all that would actually go into that. I lost sight of what was actually important to me. I lost sight of enjoying my journey and trusting the process. I lost sight of believing that what I’m doing is actually really helping people. Everybody’s journey is different and I’ve finally gotten back to a place where I’m enjoying my journey again. I love what I do. I love helping women level up in love and in life. I love sharing my knowledge and experiences to make other’s lives better.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Aurora Love Coaching, LLC?
I provide dating & relationship coaching to women of all ages. I help them let go of the cycles of toxic love & “situationships”, heal and gain the tools needed to find and secure happy, healthy relationships. I focus heavily on getting to the root issues. I take it all the way back to childhood because I strongly believe that our earliest relationships with our parents/caregivers set the tone for our adult romantic relationships. I also focus on self-worth, self-development, and self-love because I believe that without excelling in these areas, there’s no way we can be successful in attracting the types of relationships that add to our betterment. I use my background in mental health counseling and my theoretical orientation in attachment styles and human development to help people get the full coaching experience. It’s not just about dating, but about being the best you in all facets of life, unlearning unhealthy habits, and becoming whoever you desire to be. Altogether, my areas of focus include attachment styles, trauma bonding, codependency, self-sabotage, non-committed relationships, and toxic relationships.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The opportunities are endless in Atlanta! From the suburbs to the city, I believe there’s something for everyone. What I like least is the traffic. This city is way too congested, but it’s probably because, as I said, there’s something for everyone here. We just have to take the good with the bad and make it work for us!
