Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Lyons
Hi Jada, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started doing makeup last year in April. But i’m not new to it. I really started having the love for beauty since I was 12 years old watching my sister do her own makeup. I was even watching youtubers like Jackie Aina, Jeffree Star, Patrick Starr, etc… always been a fan of youtube. I wasn’t allow to wear makeup until i got older though. Once i was able to wear makeup, I grow an obsession with it. Never knew I had such a great passion for beauty. I start creating content on tiktok in 2021, making beauty tutorials, vlogs, day in the life videos. I never seen any growth until 2023 & 2024. While i was creating beauty content, one of my family members convinced me into start doing other people makeup & start making money from it. “It’s what you love to do, you should making money from it… you’ll enjoy making money from something you have a passion for.” I took that into consideration and started doing makeup in April of last year. When i started doing makeup, I needed someone to mentor me on what it’s really like to be a pro mua… so i went to Anna Garcia (a makeup artist located in New Orleans). She taught me the ins & out, the ups & downs of being new to the beauty industry. So far i’ve done bridal parties with her and traveled all within my first year of being a mua. One of things that help me get to where I am is social media… putting my work on the internet & being consistent with posting on all platforms. Now I’m continuing to learn and grow from being a mua & content creator. It’s only the beginnging. I know God got so much more in store for me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride. I have my bumps in the road. I had to learn to be okay with not having any clientele. I had to be okay with some one not liking their makeup. I know that I can please everyone, and everybody have their own opinions. I started growing a mindset of “people are going to bad things whether you doing good or bad.” I got to the point where I keep going because this is MY LIFE. I have to do what’s best for me and I don’t want to spend the rest of life regretting & wishing.
As you know, we’re big fans of JS Beauty Aura . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a freelance makeup artist located in Thibodaux, Louisiana. I specialize in soft glam makeup looks, I also do bridal makeup as well. I’m set apart from other makeup artist because I’m new to being a makeup artist but my work shows other wise. People will sit in my chair & think that i been doing this for years. Not only that I’m only 21. I’m most proud for how I starting to get noticed by people & how my clientele grew so quickly. Making a name for myself and having a great reputation is everything to me. I want people to know that doing makeup isn’t just a hobby for me, it’s my life. I wanna go further in the beauty industry, networking & building a brand that can inspire many girls who are like me. I wanna make a name for myself like how i see a lot of these muas & beauty gurus did. Setting the tone & letting everybody know who I am.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is my family, my talent, & God. Without those three things, i wouldn’t have nothing. I wouldn’t know where I’ll be. Just being happy to for the small things in life. Being grateful & thankful for what God has done. I have came a long way.
