Inspiring Conversations with Jaeson Courseault of Sports and Joint Mobile Medicine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaeson Courseault.

Hi Jaeson, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As an Atlanta native, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology Pre-Med from Morehouse College on a full academic scholarship. While at Morehouse I played cornerback for their football team and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. With roots in New Orleans, LA, I went to medical school at Tulane University and completed a Family Medicine Residency at LSU. I completed my fellowship specialty training in Sports Medicine in Waco, TX. For the past five years, I served as Team Physician for several high schools, two junior colleges, and Baylor University Men’s Basketball Team and Track/Cross Country Teams.

As a Sports Medicine physician, I started my own practice, Sports and Joint Mobile Medicine after moving back home to Atlanta to be closer to family and friends, I left a very busy orthopedic practice in Texas and built a luxury exam room out of a Sprinter Van with my dad who is in construction. Too often patients would complain of the time that it took to be seen and how their other doctor doesn’t listen. I strive to impact wait times, often months, between a patient’s pain and seeing a doctor, providing the attention that they deserve. The design of meeting patients in the safety and comfort of the mobile office provides convenience and reduces risk of exposure in crowded waiting rooms. The vision is to have multiple specialties, not only orthopedics, multiple vans in multiple cities to meet the needs of our communities in a convenient revolutionary way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Despite the challenges, God has put solid ground under every step that I’ve taken. From every exam that we all pray that we pass to matching into residency and fellowship; from dealing with the difficult patients to the ones whose lives are on the line; faith has always been the foundation. Starting a practice has been the most interesting challenge. I have an MD, not an MBA. Figuring out how to start a business, market a business, plan and create success in business has not been an easy task. Juggling all of the responsibilities of being a business owner and being a husband and father to a two years old daughter certainly builds character as well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a sports medicine physician providing non-operative sports orthopedic services for patients with muscle, bone, or joint pain, and we come to the patient.

We specialize in Biologic injections like PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections, umbilical product injections, Amniotic fluid injections, cortisone injections, and hyaluronic acid injections, all to treat pain and injury.

Sports and Joint Mobile Medicine (SJMM) will come to the patient’s home and evaluate and treat their pain/injury, lowering the risk of exposure to COVID. We also do COVID testing with results in 10 minutes. Our goal is to make you feel better as safely and as quickly as possible in the comfort of our State-of-the-Art Mercedes Benz Sprinter converted to a mini medical office, which is sterilized after each visit. We also offer IV hydration therapy.

We are proud to provide a safe, modern day, high-quality level of care, medical experience, and commitment to all of our patients, as trusted even by NFL athletes.

What makes you happy?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter. We always have a good time at home or out on the town or traveling. When you’re able to do fun things with the people that you love the most, it’s truly a blessing not to take for granted. I also enjoy playing golf. It is rewarding to have success at such a difficult sport. It is also nice to be outdoors in this way. And last but not least, I enjoy helping people with athletic/active living injuries. They are the most motivated patients and the success stories to recovery provide a joy that cannot be explained.
