Inspiring Conversations with Jasmine Johnson of Queen of Blooming

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Johnson.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My name is Jasmine and I am a professional Birth Doula providing services in the Atlanta, GA area. I am originally from Philadelphia, PA where I received a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Healthcare Management at West Chester University. Getting my degree in Public Health I have always had a passion in helping and supporting in my local community. Along with being a Birth Doula and childbirth educator, I am currently working towards becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a new business will always be a challenge when you’re first getting started. From creating a logo to building my clientele, it has always been some barriers along the way. With so much support from my family and friends, I was able to get the push needed to build a strong foundation for my business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Queen of Blooming is the name of my Doula business. Some may ask, ‘what is a doula?’ A doula is someone who supports a person during childbirth mentally, physically and emotionally. As a birth doula, I am here to improve maternal outcomes and care by providing evidence-based techniques and education. As a birth doula, I will be available to build confidence, trust, guidance and emotional reassurance. As an African-American women, I am 4x more likely to die during childbirth than my white counterparts. We are not dying during childbirth because we’re poor, uneducated or have lack of resources but instead our voices are not respected or heard. As a birth doula, I am here to give black women the education and voice needed for a successful beautiful birth and decrease the fear given from our health system.

I am most proud of the outcomes and having the opportunity to empower my clients to reach deep inside to release this strong, resilient and powerful person they are. I am proud to help mothers advocate for their birthrights and make decisions for not only them but also for their babies.

If it’s one thing you take from my brand or business is that I am an advocate for women’s rights! I believe women are the blueprint and will always be!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happiness comes in many different forms. Honestly, seeing my friends and family succeed and becoming the best versions of themselves make me happy. Seeing my team win makes me happy. Knowing I’m making a difference in my community or someone’s life, brings true happiness to me. I always say I feel as though I was put into the world to help people – when that is achieved I am the most happy in my life.
