Inspiring Conversations with Jaydine Royes of Celebrate With A Picnic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaydine Royes.

Jaydine Royes

Hi Jaydine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the picnic business began with a simple act of kindness for a friend’s birthday. What started as a gesture quickly evolved into something more as more people began to take notice of my talent for crafting special events. Friends and strangers started approaching me to create unique experiences for their loved ones.

Initially, I didn’t plan on turning this into a business. I simply enjoyed making people feel loved and appreciated through these special occasions. However, as demand grew, so did the encouragement from friends and family to turn my passion into a full-fledged business venture.

At the heart of it all was the moment I saw the emotional impact my picnics had on my customers. The sight of my first customer shedding tears of joy made me realize that this was something I wanted to continue doing. Despite being only 18 at the time and lacking the financial resources for fancy supplies, I improvised by scouring local thrift stores and Goodwill for affordable materials.

Over time, my skills in designing, planning, and working with people improved. What started as a makeshift setup with a few blankets and pillows eventually grew into a comprehensive inventory of chairs, tables, and tablecloths. It was a journey filled with challenges and learning experiences, but each step of the way felt like an exciting adventure.

Today, I’m proud to say that my passion for creating memorable experiences has evolved into a successful picnic business. Every event I plan is a testament to the joy and fulfillment I find in making others happy. It’s been a long journey, but looking back, I wouldn’t trade the ride for anything else.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been an adventure, much like a rollercoaster ride with its ups and downs. In the early years of my business, serving alcohol wasn’t an option due to regulations. It was a sobering start, to say the least!

Now let’s get into finances. At 18, I didn’t exactly have deep pockets. Fancy equipment? Not in my budget. I had to get creative, scouring thrift stores for findings and relying on DIY solutions to make things work.

Then there’s the matter of legitimacy. Turning my passion into a real business was a challenge. It felt like pitching a tent in a hurricane – difficult, but not impossible. And finding clients? Well, diving into the scene of Atlanta from my small-town roots was nerve-wracking, to say the least.

But you know what? Despite the obstacles, I’ve embraced the uncertainty. Starting without a solid plan, I relied on the support and encouragement of those around me. Every step of the way, I’ve had to think on my feet and adapt. And you know what? It’s been quite the journey, that’s the beauty of entrepreneurship – you never know what’s next. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
