Inspiring Conversations with Jeffrey Corbett of MacroMeals: Meal Prep & Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Corbett.

Hi Jeffrey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Starting as a Personal Trainer back in 2003 solidified where we are today. Continuously hearing, “I can’t stay on track because food is just too hard to understand,” gave me a dream and answers for clients I couldn’t keep passing up.
This started a small operation of cooking for individual clients out of the home, and for lunches only, back in 2007. Continued this type of work on a client-only basis until 2014, then we took it mainstream so to say, shortly thereafter. Since then, in what seems an eternity, we have developed into one of the main Meal Prep and Catering companies and help to sprout the growth of lots more competitors who love our idea and have opened up great competition. This just gave us motivation to go deeper. We opened our doors to become a Catering company in addition to meal prepping and have since ventured into large and small events ranging from 25 – 400 attendees.

Our employees have gone from just myself and wife (until we realized we work best separately after about 2 years 😜), to nine of us rocking it. Now, we are venturing into the brunch and lunch markets our customers have been demanding for years and we cannot wait. We will be offering our standard menus which change weekly, and a fresh selection of deli counter sandwich and platter options as well!

All of this growth has spurred growth in two other small businesses being run in addition: A personal training experience for remote and online clients, as well as one in one at their private homes where we get a gym setup and perfected for their goals and needs. Also, I run an adventure guide company as well providing tours from the Southeast to West Coast regions.

MacroMeals is our original baby and the one we are going in the direction of franchising too. To have locations spread out from Ga, to Tx, to Ca. 🙂

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not smooth. We’ve overcome financial hardships during growing seasons while we were young and competition started to sprout up. As when we started there were literally zero competitors in the industry. That continues to today and it’s a love hate relationship, bc of course competition makes you DRIVE harder and think smarter!!!!

We’ve overcome employee issues as the industry isn’t known for having the most dedicated persons, but now our staff is united and driven to succeed as a team and it shows.

We’ve overcome space issues. Again, starting out of our house over a decade ago and developing into a commercial kitchen and entertainment space of our own. This venture is never ending, and we are excited for the growth of our deli counter and seated space for lunch and brunch soon!

We’ve also overcome time thus far. Pushing so that we can continue to flourish and grow in times like we find ourselves in. Ie: we made it though the beginning of the 2020 pandemic year, and thus far through 2021 the year of what seems to be the unknown, from political unrest, to “post” pandemic issues, to who knows what’s happening with small business laws and regulations. All after of course making it past the initial 5 year make it or break it for most small businesses. It’s been a journey for sure.

We are honored to be chosen and to be of service to our customers, their families and friends, and the needs they request.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are the original meal prep company of Georgia. When we opened back in 2014 as a commercial spot there was zero competition. Two other companies offered meals to go that would be delivered but they weren’t individually portioned meals or specific for goals. Rather just a standard meal to go say as you would get from Longhorn or WaffleHouse. That’s what set us apart in the beginning and gave us an opportunity to sprout through the state.
We now serve all of Atlanta (ITP/OTP) and surrounding areas, we were ALL of West Ga, we serve all of Southside areas (Newnan, PTC, Fayetteville) AND all areas located in between.. serving nearly 1000k square miles our reach is large. Next we are looking to expand our shipping availability to out of state while still maintaining the quality and freshness we are known for.

We use only organic, grass feed, NEVER frozen ingredients, that are sourced locally (within the state of Ga) and FRESH.

We partner with local farmers, local farmers markets and vendors, and local businesses who are like minded, to bring our communities the BEST available options and the freshest deliveries.

We specialize in providing customers with food that is quality, fresh, and macronutrient specific for the individual goals they set forth. From fat loss, to adding muscle, to maintaining results, to helping out with major dietary restrictions… we do it all! With over 20 years applicable experience and 35 years combined employee knowledge… we come locked and loaded to dial any customer in.

Our Operating Partner, Brian Adams, for the Grantville location is a retired Master Diver, from a family of retired vets. He’s unique, driven, passionate, caring, and just what we needed to grow into what’s coming. He’s our rock and holds the staff together along with our Sous Chef, Jason Davilla, who is just as unique and courageous in personality and food cooking skills!

We are known for our fresh quality, and knowledge.

Most proud that we never lie to folks and that we are here to help educate and empower our customers to know the difference between fat loss (healthy) and weight loss (unhealthy) while learning how to cater their needs to get specific results. It’s muddied water for most when they try and achieve real, lifetime lasting results, and it’s because so many are out for money, versus actually educating their communities. We are striving to educate and empower and have since day one. The money will follow.

We are here to serve. Here to guide. We are here to be a lighthouse during the storm and a constant source of knowledgeable information when it comes to nutrition and wellness.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Seven Habits of Highly Effective People was a big help back in 2006 – 2010 era. Helped solidify the direction we needed to head and to streamline the how for many projects. But mostly trial and error! 🙂
