Today we’d like to introduce you to Jim Colton.
Hi Jim, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My first exposure to hypnotherapy was back in 1976. My father-in-law was a very talented amateur hypnotist, and I was very impressed with how he helped people. I never thought that it was something that I could do, although it certainly intrigued me.
Fast forwarding a decades to 2013, I found myself in a dead-end career. I used hypnosis to lose 65 pounds and improve my confidence. My therapist invited me to become a student, and I took him up on the offer. After completing the course, I began to work as a therapist part-time. I woke up one morning and realized that I wanted to do this full-time, so I committed to it and have never turned back.
Now my practice is 11 years young and has been named ‘best of’ in the Metro area six years in a row. I think that’s due to client reviews. My focus has always been on giving them the outcomes they want, rather than on my volume of business. I love helping people, so everyday, I get to do what I love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
COVID was a gigantic adjustment. When it hit, I had three locations going. I consolidated all three into my home, doing sessions initially via Zoom, and then later in person. I was able to keep things going in the right direction.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a sole practitioner, which keeps me in contact directly with my clients. My primary focus has been on stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma, but have done a lot of work with fears, phobias, and sleep issues – in addition to the more standard smoking cessation and weight loss. I’ve also worked with professional and amateur athletes.
I’m certified as an academic advisor and have over forty years of counseling experience. I love helping children.
When people work with me, they get a recording of the session to use on their own, which speeds up the recovery process and saves them money.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
My best collaboration partners are massage therapists, chiropractors, and medical professionals. They can reach me via my website, www.jimcoltonhypnosis.com, or phone me at 404-434-4847.
