Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Mitchell.
Hi Jordan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was growing up, my parents had me do the lawn care around our home. After years of this at-home practice, it led me to expanding work during the summers and gaining clients through my teenage years. After I got my associate’s degree from Georgia State, I decided I wanted to go into business for myself. Over the last couple years, I have been promoting my skills and portfolio to friends, Facebook groups, and business owners. This year, I decided to expand on my business venture. I got a new business name and license and have continued to work within/without the perimeter of my community. In the last few months, after creating social media pages for my business, I have gained over 30 bi-weekly clients and many one-time jobs. I now service multiple cities and counties within and without the perimeter of Atlanta. As the owner/operator sometimes it can get a little hectic, but once you master yourself, your schedule, and dedication to your company, there is no better feeling than creating your own schedule and working for yourself.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would have to say that no road is smooth if you are trying to grow. There is always something new to learn. Whether a new technique, skill, or piece of equipment, you’re always learning in the field and through research. Luckily, I’ve been able to keep the road a little smoother by keeping expenses low, paying off equipment in full, and using social media as free promotion. Social media has changed the game for small business promotion. There will always be ups and downs with any business, but the main thing to remember is to have faith, trust the process, take each day as it comes, learn from your mistakes and embrace the change/challenges.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As the owner/operator of Green Aesthetics Lawn Maintenance LLC, my main goal is to get clients’ yards to their full visual aesthetic. From stripes in the summer to leaf cleanups in the winter, I take pride in maintaining clients’ yards all year round. My company’s specialty in the summer is lawn maintenance: mowing, blowing, weed-eating, edging, hedge trimming, and weed spray control. When growth slows down in the winter, leaf cleanups and gutter cleaning is the next specialty that keeps my business running year-round. What sets Green Aesthetics Lawn Maintenance apart from others is that I treat each yard as my own. I am very detailed oriented (maybe too much) and as the operator, I am getting the yards to the shape I approve of each visit. Everything is getting touched up each visit and I will leave your property knowing there won’t be any complaints. What I want my readers to take away from my article is knowing that their property is going to be taken care of professionally. I stay in great communication with each and every client and they won’t feel left in the dark like many do with large landscape corporations.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I plan to continue to have the same business morals on a larger scale. Working work friends/employees I trust while still having that small business feel. I’m also studying and learning more skills such as planting and building fire pits to expand and add to the list of needs Green Aesthetics Lawn Maintenance can fill. Overall, I want to keep meeting clients’ needs and continue going above and beyond what any previous company may have done for them. If the clients are happy and the work is satisfactory, the future will be promising.
