Today we’d like to introduce you to Ka’niyah Washington.
Ka’niyah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was inspired by my mother and big cousin Punpun. I saw how passionate they were about their business! They both gave me ideas on what I could do to make my own money. I started talking to my support system, they helped me with the ideas I had in mind and to put things in place. My ideas were so clear as to what I wanted to do and that was to make some of the “BEST” lemonade in the world! My auntie Tammie shared with me the secret ingredients to make that happen. I was already happy about starting my own lemonade business at the age of eight, but after making around $80 my first time selling my product, I was even more excited! Moving forward, I spoke with my parents and they asked if this was something I really wanted to do? I assured them this was what I wanted and together, we came up with the name “Magical Sips by Ka’niyah”, got my logo created and designed and from there, the hard work began.
With the help of my mother, we got in the kitchen and started letting the magic unfold. I had to give up things such as playing outside, spending the weekends away from home and other things that I enjoy as a kid. On the days I sell lemonade, the goal is to always return home with an empty cooler and my customers make that happen about 98% of the time! As time went on, I started getting orders for large quantities of lemonade for events, I started offering lemonade by the gallon and I added more flavors. I was invited to my first pop up shop that went really well and I can’t wait to attend many more! I was recently chosen to have my business promoted on a billboard in the middle of downtown Atlanta! Also, I’m working with a couple of business owners on something special that I’ll be announcing soon.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The ride has been pretty smooth and I wouldn’t say I’ve had to face any obstacles or challenges so far.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
First and foremost, I have some of the best lemonade you’ll find in Atlanta, GA. I’m known for my fresh squeezed homemade lemonade, hot cocoa bombs and I’ve recently added chocolate-covered treats to my resume. What sets me aside from others? My great personality, communication, work ethic and the fact that I’m a kidpreneur! I’m proud of everything that I’ve accomplished so far and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me. I want the readers to know that I’m passionate about my brand and all things made at Magical Sips by Ka’niyah are made with love!
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about our city is we have a lot of people residing here, its a lot of money to be made and it’s a lit city! What I like least about our city is the violence, the fact that our people don’t stick together how we should and we spend more time tearing people down instead of trying to uplift one another.
