Inspiring Conversations with Kasey Gartner of Iron Wealth Advisors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Gartner.

Kasey Gartner

Hi Kasey, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started with my firm right out of college. After graduating from the University of Georgia with dual business degrees in marketing and finance, I discovered the world of financial planning and immediately joined my firm. Without any relevant work experience, background in the field, or females in the industry as a guide, I began working on a team for one of the top investment advisors in the country.

Fast forward several years after earning my professional licenses, graduate school, marriage, and the birth of my son, I launched my own practice serving my clients in the manner in which I was taught – comprehensive, holistic financial planning.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Anything worth having is worth working for and I have worked to achieve everything I have today. Unfortunately, I did go through a divorce, but I am a glass-half-full kind of person and am a better person for having gone through that experience.

Not having the safety net of my spouse’s income will really teach a person what they’re made of. As a single mom half of the time, you learn quickly how to prioritize, take control of your calendar, and build a business around your life, not the other way around.

We’ve been impressed with Iron Wealth Advisors, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I run an almost exclusively fee-based planning financial planning practice. We work with professionals and business owners in all industries. The common thread and philosophy we share is that our clients are busy running their businesses and dominating their own careers and lack the time and expertise that we have in the area of financial planning.

They appreciate leverage and higher expertise, which is how we fit into their lives. My mantra is that everyone should spend their time doing what they love, what they’re good and, and ideally, what they can make money doing and outsource the rest!

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
How efficient a person can truly be when they take ownership of their life and their schedule. Control what you can control and stop worrying about what you can’t control. Stop creating scenarios in your mind that don’t exist – worrying is like praying for bad things to happen. We can’t control what happens to us, but we can absolutely control how we respond.
