Inspiring Conversations with Kimberly Jackson of Zeno’s Backyard Bark Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Jackson

Hi Kimberly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Zeno’s Backyard Bark Park began with the idea of me as a single mother wanting to provide a clean, low-maintenance, safe space for my son and dog to play. Initially, our large, unfenced backyard consisted of rotten trees, overgrown bushes, and grass that needed cutting every week. Many people would use our yard to allow their dogs to relieve themselves while walking along the Westside Spur Trail of the Atlanta Beltline. I wondered if there was a way to make that option more official, rather than feeling violated by trespassers.

Then, I came across an app that provided a platform for homeowners to rent out their yards to pet owners for private play. With the app, I was able to execute the vision of a large play area that was fenced in and covered with artificial turf—and be able to share our yard with others. Today, we’ve incorporated a number of pet amenities such as a sand pit, a splash pool, toys, and agility equipment. We also offer “Pup Pawties” (dog birthday parties) upon request.

Most recently, we’ve begun hosting community events, providing pet owners unique bonding opportunities—like our February “Love at First Bite” Lick and Paint and our March “Mutt Madness.” As we’re now stepping more fully into the pet industry, we’ve been able to network and collaborate with so many amazing people who are passionate about pets.

What was once just an idea rooted in safety and saving money has now grown into a business—one that builds community, promotes wellness, and provides joy for both pets and their people. It’s been incredible to see how something so personal has turned into something so impactful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. In the beginning phase when we were getting the grounds ready there was so much rain during that time that it delayed the project by 4 months. We have also struggled with competitive price setting while scaling. While there are other private play yards in the city, we’re one of the top choices in cleanliness, location and intentionality. Sometimes gaining traction and momentum takes more time than our budget allows.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
You should know that Zeno’s Backyard Bark Park is one of the most clean, convenient and intentional private dog parks in the city of Atlanta. We are known for providing spaces where pets and pet owners can enjoy worry-free outdoor bonding time with each other. Zeno’s Backyard Bark Park’s location along the Westside Atlanta Beltline makes it easily accessible for trail users and for those visiting by car. Our fully fenced turfed field keeps pets safe and clean, even on a rainy day.
We take pride in providing a unique private play space experience for all pets and pet owners.

We want readers to know that Zeno’s Backyard Bark Park is their neighborhood’s premier private dog park for individual play and pet gathering experiences.
