Today we’d like to introduce you to Kishawna Brown.
Hi Kishawna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My family business began when my oldest son lost his hair around the edges. He had long hair but it began to break really bad. His father did not want me to cut his hair, so I began to purchase products to help his growth. Nothing was really working. So, I remembered things my great-grandmother used to tell me about certain ingredients and what things like peppermint and honey could do, so I put together my own concoction and it worked pretty quickly. After his hard started and continued to grow, I made a post on my Facebook page and so many people wanted me to make it for them. So, I started a little business that took off right before my eyes. Two years later and we are still going strong. We do a sale every first Friday and sell limited amount of jars. The sale continues until the very last jar is sold………. We sell out within 48hrs, every sale. We recently decided to add distributors to our company and Central Florida, along with Southeast Alabama have distributors handling direct sales. Guess who’s next… you guessed right, “The A”. So, definitely stay tuned and remember the name Brown Magic!!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been smooth. I started off handling things on my own, and trying to balance a tax business, school, 3 kids, and a husband can be challenging. But by the Grace oh God, I have help and my team is solid and I’m so grateful for that.

Brown Magic is a family business founded by me and my husband. We are big on making our customers feel like family and building relationships so that we better understand their needs. What we want people to know about our company is Brown Magic is deeper than hair growth, it’s about helping people restore their crowns physically and mentally. We are social media based because that’s where everything started. But even though it started there, we are growing beyond that. What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the fact that it celebrates black entrepreneurship, excellence, and extravagance. Atlanta is the south’s New York and the black Mecca. I appreciate and love my customer base there and can’t wait to put my storefront there.
