Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeasha Williams.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Being a teen mother motivated me to accelerate my success so that I could adequately provide for my child. I graduated high school a semester early. Determined to also finish college with two children at this time, I enrolled them both in the children’s program at Brooklyn College as well. It was important to me for my children to see me strive towards achieving my goals.
I went to school full time and worked full time as a teacher’s assistant. Twenty years ago, I just wanted to teach. Teaching is a noble profession. But my principal at that time saw additional leadership qualities in me that she continued to cultivate. I never dreamed of principalship. However, after several administrative roles, I finally assumed principalship of my own school in June 2018. My lived experiences coupled with my professional experiences and college education enabled me to be the transformational leader that my school required. My emphasis is that our children are loved, learning, and leading in their communities as well.
As well as being an educational leader, I understand the need to educate our children early on with entrepreneurship/ financial literacy. I understand that equity is a matter of closing the access gap for our children, families, and communities. I have also captured the art of storytelling as an additional way to provide supportive services to uplift my community. I know that stronger communities yield stronger families and stronger schools.
Viral school principal and social justice educational leader: I also have a new Amazon Best Seller book titled “Shine On Brown Girl”. The book is an empowering story to Black children everywhere to celebrate the skin their in daily because behind it lies a story of strength and perseverance. Black is fearless, Black is strong and Black is beautiful. I also share with my social media followers in a variety of ways why it’s so important to affirm all of our children and empower their dreams.
I’m also Amazon Best Seller co-author of, Still I Thrive. This anthropology focuses on the importance of perseverance and resiliency.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I struggled with balancing motherhood and my career. Being a mother is the most important job to me. However, I also needed to provide for my children.
Being an equity warrior has also been a struggle in a society that doesn’t provide equity and access to every child and family. We know that 65% of our children are not reading on grade level. My leverage with community partnerships is my attempt to bring the much needed resources, exposure, and experiences to my school community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Brickhouse Unlimited was launched during the COVID-19 global pandemic. After working with several families in my school community, I saw there was a great need for sisterhood, unity, and resources to be shared in the larger community. We work to provide families with an ongoing safe space to share their thoughts and concerns. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of the families. We strive to provide the families with the necessary resources such as connecting them to supportive services as needed, fresh food items and much more.
Brickhouse Unlimited is a company focused doing just that and helping everyone to shine. I assess the needs of our clients, set goals, and create action plans. I understand that stronger communities yield stronger families and stronger schools.
Brickhouse Unlimited is committed to being a cord of three strands that represent the strength of the unity of the child, the family, and the community. I will accomplish this through speaking engagements, consulting services, books, and other platforms.

What makes you happy?
Spending time with my family, positively impacting the lives of children, and serving in the community makes me happy.
As a social justice leader, I understand that the lack of love, resources, and access in our communities have a direct negative impact on our children and families.
My goal is to change the narrative.
