Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurie Bell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Golf For Change because I saw how golf can do more than improve a swing. Golf builds confidence, teaches discipline, strengthens community, and gives people a sense of purpose. I wanted to create a space where golf was accessible, affordable, and a positive force in people’s lives.
Golf For Change began as part of my broader work with Be The Change Charity Foundation. My goal was to break down financial barriers so that kids, adults, beginners, and experienced players could all have the chance to enjoy the game and grow from the experience. I also wanted our programs to support youth development through mentorship, life skills, and community engagement.
Over time, Golf For Change has grown into a year‑round initiative that combines cost‑effective lessons with opportunities for personal and social growth. Seeing participants gain confidence, form connections, and feel empowered by the game reminds me every day why I started this work. I am proud to lead a team that believes golf can inspire change in individuals and communities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been rewarding but not without challenges. The only challenge has been finding ways to get more families from less fortunate backgrounds onto the golf course. We are actively working to bring in more corporate sponsors and donors to make golf accessible to everyone who wants to learn and benefit from the game.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Golf for Change, LLC ?
Golf For Change is a year‑round golf program that makes learning and enjoying the game accessible and affordable for people of all ages, including children and adults. We specialize in cost‑effective golf lessons, group clinics, tournaments, and social golf events designed to break down financial barriers that often limit participation in the sport. A portion of the proceeds from each lesson also goes toward sponsoring a child’s golf lessons, ensuring more young players have the chance to grow through golf.
What sets us apart is our focus on both golf skill development and personal growth. We teach strategic thinking, problem solving, accountability, respect, and networking skills through the game of golf. This approach helps participants grow not just in ability on the course, but also in confidence and life skills that apply off the course as well.
We are proud of the range of community events we host, which include clinics, mixers, holiday drives, and youth‑focused initiatives that bring people together and reinforce our mission of positive change through golf. Those experiences build connection and community while promoting inclusivity in a sport that can sometimes feel exclusive.
Golf For Change also partners with organizations and sponsors to support outreach, mentorship, and scholarship opportunities, including programs aimed at helping young athletes pursue golf at higher levels and explore collegiate opportunities.
Overall, our brand stands for accessibility, community impact, personal development, and a welcoming environment where anyone who wants to learn golf can do so with purpose and support.
How do you define success?
I define success by the impact we create in people’s lives, not just by awards or numbers. For Golf For Change, success means making golf accessible to everyone, helping participants build confidence, learn life skills, and feel part of a supportive community. It is seeing children and adults grow, overcome challenges, and gain opportunities they might not have had otherwise. Ultimately, success is measured by the positive, lasting difference we make in individuals and communities through the game of golf.
