Inspiring Conversations with Lexi Soos of Lax with Lex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexi Soos.

Hi Lexi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I picked up a lacrosse stick for the first time when I was 12 after quitting elite gymnastics, and never looked back. By 16, I began coaching the same club team that fueled my love for the game. I took my passion to the next level at Newberry College, where I got to compete and learn even more about what makes this sport so special.

In 2023, I made the move to Georgia, and in 2024, I started coaching with Eagle Stix. But I wanted to do even more to help players grow their skills, so this year, I launched Lax with Lex. Now, I get to work with players one-on-one or in small groups, focusing on footwork, dodging, shooting, and agility—all while helping them build confidence on and off the field.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it always been smooth? Absolutely not. Even with all the great moments – playing the sport I love in college, coaching girls with the same passion I have, starting Lax with Lex – there’s been one big hurdle I didn’t see coming: me. Self-doubt and imposter syndrome hit hard when I first started Lax with Lex. I would overthink everything “Do I actually know enough to teach this?” “What if they realize I’m still figuring out things too?”

But here’s the thing: I’ve learned that doubt doesn’t mean you’re failing. It just means you care. And slowly, I’ve started trusting myself more – not because I have all the answers, but because I know how to find them. Every player I’ve worked with, every lesson I’ve taught, has reminded me that growth isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, putting in the work and believing you’ve got something valuable to share.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in private lacrosse lessons for girls of all ages, offering 1:1 coaching, small group sessions and clinics tailored to each player’s skill level and goals. My training focuses on mastering fundamentals while building advanced techniques in footwork & agility, dodging & defense, shooting & stick skills, field IQ and film study. By the end of summer I hope to host a multi-day camp in the Atlanta area focusing on developing individual skills. As a woman who has been an athlete her entire life, I wanted Lax with Lex to be designed specifically for female athletes. I want to address their unique developmental needs because I had great female mentors growing up, and wouldn’t be woman I am today without them and their leadership. I think that’s what sets me apart from other businesses similar to mine and why I’m so passionate about helping young women on and off the field.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My biggest piece of advice when finding a mentor is to surround yourself with people who share your same values and are just as committed to your growth as you are. Having people in your inner circle who care just as much about your success as you do sounds like such a simple thing, but it really makes the biggest difference. I’ve found my greatest mentor in my dad, who coached for over 20 years, and taught me that true leadership is about character as much as competence—prioritizing growth, humility, and the development of others. Find someone who challenges you while aligning with your principles; their influence will shape both your skills and your legacy.
