Inspiring Conversations with Lindsey Billings of The Peach Veil

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Billings.

Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up surrounded by small business owners, so entrepreneurship was always part of my world. My dad has owned his own business for as long as I can remember, and even started young himself. My grandfather ran a building business for over 60 years, primarily in Gwinnett but throughout Georgia. My uncle owns an air conditioning company, and my aunt owns her own hairdressing business. The list goes on and on and even trickles down to my cousins owning businesses now. Being around people who built things from the ground up made a big impression on me early on.

As a kid, I was always dreaming up ideas and figuring out how to turn them into something real. My parents were incredibly supportive of that creativity and encouraged me to try things—even if it meant a little trial and error. When I was about 10 years old, I even set up a booth at a local softball tournament and “hired” my younger brother and sister to help me run it. Looking back, that was probably my first real experience as a business owner.

Before starting my wedding planning business, I always knew I wanted to run a business someday, but I didn’t initially realize it would be in the wedding industry. What I did know was that events seemed to follow me everywhere. Whether it was corporate events, community events, or large gatherings, I always found myself involved—sometimes as the planner, sometimes helping with marketing, and other times serving on planning committees. I loved the process of bringing people together and creating meaningful experiences.

In 2020, my sister and one of my close friends got married, which was the first time I really started paying attention to the world of weddings. Then in May of 2021, I got engaged myself. My husband had one request: he wanted to be married before football season. Naturally, my response was, “Challenge accepted.”

From the day we got engaged to the day we said “I do,” we had about 90 days. Planning our wedding on such a tight timeline was intense but incredibly exciting. We pulled together a lot of moving parts—food trucks, a live musician paired with a DJ, a mobile bar, transportation for guests, lodging, and more. Somehow it all came together beautifully.

As I was planning, people started to notice. Friends—and friends of friends—began asking for advice or help planning their own weddings. I jokingly became known as the “real-life 90-day bride.” Before long, those casual conversations turned into real opportunities. So I created an LLC and decided to jump in.

What started with helping a few people quickly grew. I said yes to pretty much every opportunity! Strangers began reaching out, and referrals started rolling in. In the early days, I leaned heavily on friends and family to help make everything happen. While they still occasionally jump in, today I’ve built a team of incredible lead planners, trusted assistant planners, and a network of wonderful vendors who help bring each celebration to life.

Looking back, it feels like all the pieces—from my childhood surrounded by entrepreneurs to my love for events—naturally led me here. What started as a fast-paced personal challenge turned into a business I truly love building every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I could say it’s been a smooth road, but like most businesses, there have definitely been challenges along the way.

One of the biggest things for me has been intentionally choosing organic growth. I never wanted to grow quickly just for the sake of growing. In the wedding industry, especially, fast growth can easily lead to burnout, and I’ve seen that happen to so many talented planners. It’s heartbreaking when someone builds something they love and then becomes exhausted by it. Because of that, I’ve had to learn how to slow myself down and grow at a sustainable pace—which doesn’t always come naturally to me.

Another challenge has been learning how to discern which clients are the right fit and when it’s okay to say no. Weddings are such meaningful and significant investments for couples and their families, and with that comes a lot of pressure to execute everything flawlessly. I always want to make sure the partnership is right for both sides—that the couple feels supported and that I know I can serve them well.

The logistics of the industry can also be a challenge. Trends move quickly, and staying on top of them requires constant learning. I’m always investing in continuing education and learning from other professionals in the industry.

One story that still makes me laugh happened when champagne towers were trending all over social media. Everyone wanted one at their reception. At one wedding, the bride had purchased cups for the tower herself—but they were plastic instead of glass. Unfortunately, champagne towers rely heavily on the weight and balance of glass. As soon as we started pouring, the entire tower collapsed right in the middle of the reception. Champagne went everywhere—it was a sticky mess in front of all the guests!

Thankfully, the couple had an incredible sense of humor and laughed the whole thing off.

Moments like that have taught me a valuable lesson: never assume anything—ask a million questions. Now I dig into every detail, even the ones that might seem small. If I had asked just a few more questions ahead of time about the champagne tower setup, we could have caught it and adjusted before the big moment.

Every challenge along the way has helped me grow, refine my processes, and ultimately serve my clients better.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Peach Veil?
The Peach Veil is a full-service wedding planning company, and if I had to narrow down what we’re known for, it would be three things: seamless logistics, strong relationships with our couples, and creating a healthy, positive environment behind the scenes for vendors.

In the wedding industry, you’ll often hear planners talk about design or guest experience—and those things absolutely matter. But where The Peach Veil stands out is in how we bring the entire vendor team together in a collaborative and positive way for our couples. When that environment is created, something really special happens: everyone involved wants to go above and beyond.

Our goal is that when vendors arrive on a wedding day, they don’t feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or stressed about logistics. Instead, they show up knowing the details have been thoughtfully handled and that someone is there to support the entire team. Because we’ve carefully planned the flow of the day, vendors are able to focus on what they do best—whether that’s photography, catering, music, florals, or design.

One of the things that means the most to me is when vendors come up to us after a wedding and say something like, “I really needed this wedding.” Sometimes they’ve just come off a difficult event or a stressful environment, and they’ll tell us that our team reminded them why they got into the wedding industry in the first place. That’s something I’m incredibly proud of.

At the end of the day, weddings are about more than a beautiful event—they mark the beginning of a marriage. Our goal is to serve couples well during such an important season of their lives and create an atmosphere where everyone involved can operate at their highest level. When that happens, it allows us to give our couples the smooth, joyful celebration they deserve as they step into the covenant of marriage.

While we offer full planning, partial planning, and coordination services, our approach always comes back to the same thing: serving our couples well and creating a team environment where everyone thrives!
