Hi Lisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started in 2020! I decided I wanted to pursue being an entrepreneur, and it went from there. It’s about to be three years now being in the business industry. I never thought of being an entrepreneur my entire life. My dreams were literally becoming a news reporter or being a choreographer. I got to experience a taste of the media industry in 2017 by interviewing American R&B Singer Mario. I’m proud to actually be able to start my own media company “Heavy Flexin Media” and fulfill my dream of being a media interviewer! I’m also proud of my boutique “Cold Piece Boutique” being a co-sponsor for this year’s 7th Annual Charity Juneteenth Fashion Show/HBCU College Scholarship Drive at Chicago High School… that is so special to me because I wasn’t able to go to college and for me to help a young woman to get one of the opportunities I never had was beyond amazing! Now, I’m planning on starting an eatery business, and I can’t wait to see how that works out. I believe my plans were destined from getting laid off from work to becoming an entrepreneur to owning four businesses and being an overall 15X Published CEO!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, everything is not going to be a smooth process while pursuing the dream of being an entrepreneur. It may look like us (entrepreneurs) have it altogether but it gets stressful sometimes! Being consistent, genuine, passionate, prayerful, and standing on business got me to where I’m at today! Most of the time, it will be people you don’t know that will support you… do not get discouraged if people you know are not supportive! Always remember to stay true to yourself and keep striving to be the best you can be by being consistent with your craft, goals, and etc.

I am a 15X Published Entrepreneur, Fashion Model, and Media Personality. I have content partnerships with VoyageATL, VoyageMichigan, and i•Envy By Kiss! Cold Piece Boutique represents amazing confidence to feel like THE COLDEST in any room you step into. Cold Piece Boutique sells dresses, sets, tops/bottoms, and anything else you can think of. My company will be expanding into the beauty industry this year. In June of 2021, Heavy Flexin Apparel was created. My men’s apparel company is based off of on how I grew up living in Detroit. This brand represents what it is like to start from scratch and FLEXIN your accomplishments. Everybody FLEX about something they have done in life!
On Christmas Day of 2022, my own media/news company “Heavy Flexin Media” was invented. I recently earned my certification in Media Relations which was taught by Emmy-Award Winner TV Reporter Jessica Chen and interviewed the wonderful actress Sydney Mitchell from the hit Starz series “BMF”. This new media company is here to promote positivity, upcoming businesses/entrepreneurs, entertainment, trending news/events, and sports! Heavy Flexin symbolizes how determination, consistency, dedication, motivation, the hustle/grind brought YOU this far to be successful!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes, Instagram and other social media apps do play a huge role in my business because social media is great for networking and getting yourself out there. Everyone is on social media, so no matter how much engagement you are getting on your posts, keep promoting yourself because someone out there is watching and will come across your content!
