Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Glenn.
Madison, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up surrounded by entrepreneurs. My grandparents on my mother’s side ran printing companies, my grandfather on my father’s side owned a construction company. Mom took over for grandma and ran her printing company which allowed me to have my first job doing graphic design.
I moved from Tampa, Florida to Atlanta when I was twenty-two seeking new opportunities and have learned and grown so much.
In 2020 I was diagnosed with two different kinds of cancer and, by the end of my treatment, I was unable to have children. Facing my own mortality shook me up. I couldn’t just keep working for other people, I needed to strike out on my own and make something of myself for myself.
That’s why I started Spitfire Consulting Ltd Co. I started off small and have been clawing my way to the top ever since. I’ve signed several large clients that are known on a national and international level and am so excited for the future and whatever else the universe decides to throw our way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenges I’ve met so far come from bureaucracy to be totally honest. It’s been a little intimidating as a feminine presenting, nonbinary member of the LGBT in a male-dominated industry but as long as you’re serious and take yourself seriously, so will they.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Well, first and for most, we are the First and Only consulting firm for Professional Weirdos.
Some people have taken offense when I’ve reached out, taking the ‘weirdos’ part a little too personally.
We believe that anybody that doesn’t fall into the standard 9 am – 5 pm is a professional weirdo. Anyone that strikes out on their own and makes something of themselves and their passion is ‘weird’ and we support that and want to help our fellow weirdos be the best version of themselves they can be.
Naturally, we specialize in industries that are a little more off the beaten path; tattoo shops and artists, musicians and bands, edgy clothing brands, witchy candle companies, cannabis companies when they are operating where they are legal in the U.S., etc. However, that doesn’t mean we’re opposed to working with anyone industry.
We’ve also worked with construction companies, stainless steel fabrication companies, and charitable nonprofits.
And our services are as broad as the industries we work with. We offer business consulting services such as reducing or eliminating redundant procedures to reduce overhead cost, management and executive training, and oversight reduction.
We also have a dedicated team of content creators and graphic designers to help support our social media management and web design services. We can post across all of our client’s social media channels daily with cross-posted content or even create daily original content for each channel for those that want that.
Web design services are a huge part of what we offer, whether it’s a site redesign or something made from scratch, we’re able to turn around a satisfying, effective, and efficient website in as little as two days.
Naturally, all of our services are competitively priced and we offer special discounts to those in the cannabis-related companies to help support the cannabis industry and reformation of cannabis laws nationwide – something we’re very passionate about. We are also more than willing to work with our clients to help them get the most out of our services without hurting them too badly monetarily.
After all, our business is to help people, not bankrupt them. What’s most important to us is making an impact on the lives and daily work experience of our clients.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Create a schedule. Work-life balance is critical, especially in the early days.
You need to ask yourself, “I CAN work sixteen straight hour days but is it good for me? Is it good for my relationships with my spouse or partner or kids? Is it good for me physically? Is it good for my mental health?” The answer is almost always no.
Now, unfortunately, sometimes that’s just the price of making something from nothing, but allowing time to spend off the computer, off the phone, and with the people that are important to you is just as important as sending just one more email or making one more phone call.
I’ve found the most important thing I can ask myself when I get a text from a client at 9:45 pm is “Can this wait until tomorrow morning or does this need to be answered right now?” If the answer is “It can wait” then it can wait.
