Today we’d like to introduce you to Malcolm Conner.
Hi Malcolm , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up on the west side of Atlanta, in a single-parent household with my mom. I became the man of the house early. My older brother passed away at the age of sixteen, I was eight. My mom did everything she could to make sure I had structure, discipline, and values, even when resources were limited. I saw firsthand how hard she worked just to keep things together, and that stuck with me early. From a young age, I understood responsibility, not because someone preached it to me, but because life demanded it.
I attended Benjamin E. Mays High School, and from there went on to Morehouse College. Being at Morehouse was transformative. It sharpened how I thought, how I carried myself, and how I viewed my role in the world as a Black man. I wasn’t just learning academics, I was learning purpose, accountability, and legacy.
Before law ever became real for me, I personally faced legal trouble. I couldn’t afford an attorney, so I had no choice but to represent myself. I walked into court nervous, untrained, and unsure, but prepared. I spoke for myself, stood on the facts, and ultimately had the charge dismissed. That moment changed everything. I saw how powerful knowledge of the law could be, especially for people who don’t have access to it. From that point on, I stayed locked in on becoming a lawyer.
I attended Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law, where I graduated with honors. Law school was demanding, but I knew exactly why I was there. I wasn’t chasing a title, I was building a toolset. After graduating, I came back home to Georgia and took the bar, determined to serve the same communities that raised me.
One of the biggest blessings in my journey was mentorship. I had mentors who truly ran so I could walk. They didn’t just teach me the law—they taught me how to think, how to move, how to build, and how to sustain. They showed me the business side of law, the ethical side, and the human side. Because of their guidance and the intense training I received under them, my growth accelerated faster than most.
After law school, I worked at a small law firm for about six months. I learned a lot, but I also knew I was being prepared for more. That training, combined with my mentors’ confidence in me, pushed me to take the leap and start my own practice.
That’s how The Law Office of Malcolm P. Conner was born.
Within two years, I grew the firm into a seven-figure business. But more important than the numbers is what it represents: access, opportunity, and representation for people who often feel overlooked or unheard. Everything I do now is rooted in where I came from the west side of Atlanta, my mom’s sacrifices, the moment I had to stand alone in court, and the people who believed in me enough to show me the way.
I didn’t take shortcuts. I stayed on the path. And now, I make it my mission to help others do the same. where I’m from really shaped me and how I relate to people. it gives my clients confidence and comfortability while also keeping it relatable.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My road hasn’t been smooth. I’ve had ups, downs, setbacks, and moments where things didn’t go the way I planned. That’s just the truth. But none of that ever stopped me from doing what I believe God has for me.
If I’m being honest, I’m the type of person that once I decide I want something, I’m going after it, no matter what comes with it. I’ve always been a risk taker. I’ve been taking risks my whole life. I’m not scared of anything. And when something doesn’t work out, I don’t look at it like the end of the world. I don’t sit in failure. My mindset is always, okay… what’s the next move? This has to work, and I’m going to find a way.
I really believe that faith plus work will get you where you want to be. You can believe in God all day, but you still have to show up and put the work in. For me, that balance has always mattered. I pray but I also move.
Everybody goes through things. Everybody has problems. I could write a version of my story indicating all my setbacks but that’s small to what I’ve accomplished.. I don’t dwell on setbacks. When something happens, I deal with it, learn from it, and keep it moving. I focus on fixing the problem, not replaying it
.
I’ve always been a problem solver. That’s just how I’m wired. And now, that’s literally what I do every day. People call me stressed, overwhelmed, sometimes crying and my job isn’t to panic with them. My job is to help them figure out how we’re going to get through it.
Everyone has a sad story. I just don’t think it should define you. I think it should push you. It should be fuel. Something you use as motivation to go harder for what you want out of life.
Life is going to happen to everyone. What matters is how you respond to it. I choose to respond by moving forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Law Office of Malcolm P. Conner, LLC ?
Our firm primarily focuses on criminal defense, standing between people and some of the most difficult moments of their lives. When someone is facing charges, confusion, fear, or the weight of the system, our job is to step in, protect their rights, and guide them through the process with clarity and confidence.
We also handle personal injury cases, representing individuals who have been hurt through no fault of their own and making sure they’re not taken advantage of by insurance companies or large corporations.
In addition, we represent business owners, entrepreneurs, and creatives in contract matters, business disputes, and strategic legal planning. That includes everything from business formation and operating agreements to high-value contract negotiations, entertainment and music agreements, and asset-related disputes. Because I understand business, we don’t just look at legal issues in a vacuum, we look at how decisions affect the bigger picture.
At the core of everything we do is problem-solving
Last but certainly not least, Giving back is a huge part of who I am and what we do. It’s not something we treat as a side project or a photo opportunity it’s part of the responsibility. I’ve never forgotten where I come from or the people who helped shape me, so it’s important to me that we pour back into the same communities that poured into us.
At The Law Office of Malcolm P. Conner, giving back shows up in real ways. Whether it’s community drives, helping families during the holidays, mentoring young people, or simply being present and accessible, we believe service goes beyond the courtroom. The work doesn’t stop at legal results it extends into impact. We give back a percentage of income we make during the year. That’s a non negotiable with my firm.
I understand that for a lot of people, all it takes is one opportunity, one conversation, or one person willing to step in and help. If I can be that person or if my firm can help create that moment hen we’re doing what we’re supposed to do.
Service keeps me grounded. It keeps the work in perspective. It reminds me that success isn’t just about what you build, but about who you lift while you’re building it. I was born a mission baby in Cameroon West Africa. My parents were doing missionary work at the time. I always feel like I was born to give back, It truly makes me happy doing it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being able to relate to people matters to me. Being able to persuade people matters too, but always doing it with integrity. Integrity is number one. Nothing moves without it.
Discernment is big for me as well. I’m constantly asking God to keep me aware, aware of what I’m doing, aware of my surroundings, aware of the company I keep, and aware of myself. I ask Him to never let me get too lost or too big-headed, and to keep me grounded through both the highs and the lows.
I move with humility. I don’t brag. I don’t boast. I don’t puff my chest out for anyone. I know who I am. I know what I can do. I know what I have. I’m confident in myself, but I’m also aware of what the other side looks like and because of that, I stay humble.
