Today we’d like to introduce you to Martavia Sharee Jennings.
Hi Martavia Sharee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Martavia (Sharee) Houston Jennings was born on July 31 in Germany. At five years old, she moved to Miami, FL, where her journey of overcoming began. Life presented her with many challenges—some beyond her control and others resulting from choices she made. Yet even in the midst of adversity, she carried an unwavering conviction that life would not defeat her. She believed God had greater plans for her, even on the days she could not see them clearly.
Even during her rebellious seasons, she felt God tugging at her heart and knew her experiences would one day allow her to uplift others. At a young age, she became a mother, giving birth to her son Marcus on June 15, 2001. Though teenage motherhood came with heavy obstacles, she refused to become a statistic. Instead, she rose above her circumstances—finishing high school and even graduating a year early. Perseverance became her superpower, a gift that continues to fuel every step she takes.
On January 19, 2005, she welcomed her second child, Dyani. Recognizing her need for a fresh start, Sharee made the bold decision to move to Georgia. In the years that followed, she married the father of her daughter, purchased her first home, and worked diligently to be the best wife and mother she could be while still searching for her purpose.
Life did not withhold its storms. Through trials in her marriage and personal struggles, she remained resilient. Blow after blow, she kept rising, determined to become all God called her to be. Even in moments of tears, heartbreak, and exhaustion, her love for her children kept her standing. When her marriage ultimately ended, she found herself rebuilding once again. But this time, she declared that failure and pain would not define her future.
She surrounded herself with positivity, built a strong spiritual circle, and allowed God to ground and guide her. With renewed clarity, she soared like an eagle. Sharee returned to school and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She became deeply involved at Berean Christian Church Gwinnett under the leadership of Pastor Dr Kevin B. Lee, her pastor and spiritual father. Her passion for children led her to hands-on ministry, recognizing the priceless value each child holds in God’s eyes.
Driven by purpose, she launched her own business, Motivated Under the Sun, through which she serves her community with outreach, mentorship, and youth empowerment. She also became a Gwinnett County–based mentor, pouring into middle school and high school girls, guiding them, uplifting them, and helping them discover their worth and potential.
On January 7, 2015, she welcomed her third child, Miracle/Princess Paris, whose arrival added even more joy and inspiration to her life.
Sharee’s heart beats for women—especially those with stories of struggle and survival like her own. She works alongside Donna Anderson with Young Woman of Worth and partners with Ms. Juanita through The Believe In Me Project. Her calling has always been to serve, uplift, and love deeply. Even in her own storms, her heart and hands remain open. She gives until she cannot give anymore—and then somehow finds a little more to pour out.
Life has not always been gentle with her. She has endured health scares, spiritual battles, and emotional valleys. But through it all, she trusts God wholeheartedly. She believes that as long as God says it isn’t over, she will continue to rise. Her most recent health scare cemented her commitment to walk boldly in her purpose. She made a promise to God to go full force into her calling and allow Him to order each step.
Then, in 2021, God revealed yet another blessing: she met the man of her dreams, Cameron. In 2024, they celebrated three beautiful weddings in one year, and she proudly became Martavia Sharee Jennings. Together, they are in love, in purpose, and in business for the glory of God.
In 2022, Sharee expanded her spiritual sisterhood by joining a Christian sorority, aligning herself with women of faith and purpose who further strengthened her walk with God. Her leadership and passion quickly shined, and in 2025, she became Madam Chair of the Berean Chapter, a role she accepted with humility, pride, and deep commitment to service.
Today, Martavia Sharee Jennings stands as a testament to resilience, transformation, and divine purpose. She is back with Primerica, striving to educate others on financial services, the importance of life insurance, and the opportunity to create generational wealth. She looks forward with expectancy, ready for everything God has in store, and fully committed to allowing her life’s journey—every victory, every lesson, every scar—to be used for His glory. We will leave a legacy and not luggae!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life has not been easy, especially with my health scares, financial obstacles, and the weight of deaths, divorce, and brokenness. But even through it all, I keep my eyes on God. I reflect on the wisdom my late great-grandmother poured into me, and I think about all the tools—both direct and indirect—that my mother instilled in me. Failure is not an option. With God, all things are possible.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Motivated under the sun, I am a certified life coach and a one-stop shop dedicated to bridging the gap in the community. We do taxes, provide junk-removal services, run a clothing line, and sell custom T-shirts. We network, we build, and we serve. I mentor young ladies, single moms, wives, and business owners, and I am also a published author.
With over 20 years in business, I never accept defeat—no matter the obstacle, I figure it out. My consistency has carried me through every season. I am here to serve, to uplift, and to help create generational wealth, leaving a legacy—not luggage—for those coming after me.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
