Inspiring Conversations with Max Kallos of Ardent Loans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Kallos

Max, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After graduating from the UGA Terry College of Business I went to work for a small software development company. I worked directly under the CEO and CFO helping in literally ALL facets of the business. It was a tremendous learning experience. I decided my strengths were in helping people. In 2003 I left the firm and went into mortgage sales after receiving some great advice from my best friends wife. With the help of a great mentor, Mike Malloy, I got off to a strong start was was awarded a national “rookie of the year” award.

Surrounding myself with great people and a great team has been a key to my success.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I truly love talking to people. I will stop and talk to random people in restaurants or out in public. It drives my wife nuts! Sales was a great fit for me. That being said moving from a w2 salary to 100% commission was a struggle. I had to learn to be “all in”. My focus was on a path to success and I had to learn to push fear of failure to the side. It was at least 12-24 months before I was “comfortable” with being 100%commission and knowing my paycheck would vary month to month and year to year.

As you know, we’re big fans of Ardent Loans. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a small boutique mortgage broker that serves all of Georgia. Our focus is on customer service. I work 7 days a week 365 days a year to ensure our clients have the answers they need when they need them.

Communication is what separates us from the crowd. We are always there to ensure both realtors and home buyers have what they need to succeed with the purchase. If you call, email or text me you will always get a prompt response.

Secondly, being a broker allows us to shop multiple banks. This gives us an edge in pricing.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe lending will become more commoditized with time. Keys to success with be a process driven approach, organization and competitive pricing.
