Hi Melody, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
FB Commercial Cleaning Services began in Queens, New York, where I started by doing the work myself and learning every aspect of the business hands on. As demand grew, I expanded operations into New Jersey and Pennsylvania. When my family later relocated to Georgia, I made the decision to start fresh with a new LLC. That transition was challenging at first business was slow, and during that season I relied heavily on my husband’s transportation business to help support our household while I rebuilt from the ground up.

Through consistency, networking, and faith, the business began to gain momentum. Contracts followed, referrals increased, and FB Commercial Cleaning Services has been scaling steadily ever since. Today, we provide both residential and commercial cleaning services, including offices, medical facilities, warehouses, camps and cabins, Airbnbs, restaurants, group homes, daycares, churches, and large residential properties over 5,000 square feet.

As clients frequently requested exterior cleaning, I also launched a pressure washing company for my husband to complement our services. That business has grown into its own operation and now holds several commercial contracts, including downtown high-rise and large building washing. Most recently, we’ve been able to reinvest profits into long-term assets, including purchasing investment property in my family’s home country, Monrovia, Liberia, and launching a commercial locksmith company in Georgia. This journey has been about resilience, growth, and building lasting legacy through entrepreneurship.All from one business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. After relocating to Georgia, I had to rebuild the business from scratch, which meant slow growth and financial pressure. At one point, I returned to working regular jobs, including home care with elderly clients and at IHOP, while continuing to pursue entrepreneurship. Adjusting to clocking into someone else’s schedule was difficult, but I remained determined.

Balancing family life, finances, and business growth was challenging, but those experiences strengthened my resilience, discipline, and commitment to building something sustainable.

FB Commercial Cleaning Services is a full-service residential and commercial cleaning company specializing in deep cleaning and disinfecting for therapeutic camps, medical-need lodging, and high-turnover mission-driven facilities. We are known for providing detail-driven, reliable cleaning solutions in environments where health, safety, and consistency are essential.

In addition to our specialty work, we service office buildings, medical facilities, warehouses, Airbnbs, restaurants, group homes, daycares, churches, and large residential properties over 5,000 square feet. What sets us apart is our ability to scale while maintaining quality through strong systems, accountability, and customized cleaning plans rather than one-size-fits-all services.

As client needs evolved, we expanded into exterior services through a partnered pressure washing business, allowing us to offer more comprehensive property maintenance solutions. Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I don’t see myself as a reckless risk-taker, but I do believe in taking calculated risks. Many of my biggest decisions involved stepping forward without guarantees starting over in a new state, launching a new LLC, and continuing to invest in my business during uncertain seasons. Those choices required faith, discipline, and a willingness to be uncomfortable.

One of the biggest risks I took was reinvesting business profits into long-term assets instead of immediate comfort, including expanding into complementary services and purchasing investment property. I approach risk by assessing the downside, putting systems in place, and making sure the potential growth aligns with my long-term vision. For me, risk isn’t about chance. It’s about preparation, timing, and trusting the process while staying grounded.
