Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike “iREPMIKE” Moore.
Hi Mike “iREPMIKE”, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Mike Moore, but in the music world, I go by iREPMIKE. That name is a statement — I REP MIKE — because I’m responsible for my own success. Nobody’s coming to save me. Everything I’ve built in this industry came from that mindset.
I was raised in Alief, on the Southwest side of Houston. Growing up, I wasn’t focused on music — I was out in the streets, doing what a lot of kids in my environment had to do to survive. Life took a turn when I moved to Kansas City at 15, and that’s where I first picked up the pen. I started writing, rapping, and realizing I had something to say. That moment sparked a passion that never left.
From there, I chased music hard — almost signed with No Limit in 2007, then again with a Def Jam-affiliated Houston artist. But both deals fell through. And after enough disappointment as an artist, I made a pivot. I decided I was going to learn the business.
That decision led me to Atlanta in 2009, where I started positioning myself differently — not as just another rapper, but as someone who could bring value behind the scenes. I began managing artists, working as an A&R, and eventually found my lane. The door opened when I connected with Big Block from Block Entertainment. I didn’t have a big budget, but I had a big work ethic — and that turned into opportunities most people only talk about.
Since then, I’ve worked with teams from Roc Nation, Republic, Sony, Since 8019, and developed talents like Lil Crank & Sticky Lo while also contributing to the success of a Billboard charting record, Wassup Gway by Famous Sally & YB. But I didn’t stop there.
I created Encorporated Group to solve a major problem: creators not getting paid what they’re owed. We’re a full-service music publishing company built on transparency, ownership, and education. From royalties to metadata to sync — we make sure artists and songwriters collect every dollar they deserve.
Everything I do now is about shifting the culture and giving creators the power to win.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. The road has been anything but smooth — and I’m grateful for that, because the struggle taught me how to build something solid.
One of the biggest challenges early on was finding the right network. In this industry, especially in a city like Atlanta where everybody does music, it’s not enough just to be talented. People have to perceive your value before they even give you the space to prove it. You can’t even get your product in front of the right people unless they see some kind of value in you first. So a major part of my journey was learning how to build relationships and position myself to stand out in an overcrowded industry.
Another struggle was finances. The music business is expensive — it costs to do everything. Studio time, videos, marketing, travel — none of it is cheap. And at the time, I was balancing a 9-to-5 and providing for my family at a young age. I didn’t have the money, and I didn’t have the credit. I didn’t understand business the way I do now. I thought you had to do business to get money, but in reality, you’re supposed to get money to do business. Once I learned that and understood how to build systems, it changed the way I moved.
Another hard lesson was learning to put my pride and ego aside. In order to grow, I had to become a servant. I had to be willing to do the work behind the scenes and add value to other people’s visions, even when it meant not getting the credit. Sometimes people tried to keep me beneath them, but I kept building — kept showing up — until I had the confidence and foundation to stand on my own.
Every struggle became part of the blueprint.
We’ve been impressed with Encorporated Group INC , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Encorporated Group is a full-service music publishing company based in Atlanta, Georgia. We specialize in publishing administration for independent artists, songwriters, producers, and labels who either don’t have a team in place — or need a stronger one. Our core focus is making sure every song you create is properly registered, fully monetized, and collected on worldwide.
We’re known for working with DIY creators, legacy artists, and indie labels that don’t have in-house publishing teams. A lot of platforms out there will let you upload your songs and walk away — we don’t work like that. We actually assign real people to your music. Our artists get access to A&Rs and Artist Relations Managers who support their career like a true label would. That family-style infrastructure is what makes us different — we’re a publishing company that moves like a team, not just a tech platform.
What sets us apart is our hybrid model:
• We offer non-exclusive memberships for emerging and independent artists.
• We provide exclusive admin deals for high-value talent.
• We also offer a la carte label services to support campaigns, sync pitching, and branding.
We go beyond the basics. Our publishing admin includes lyric registration, metadata optimization, and even chart registration through Billboard and Mediabase. That’s the kind of attention to detail that ensures artists don’t just collect royalties — they’re properly documented, visible, and protected across all platforms.
What I’m most proud of is how we meet artists where they are. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve got momentum already, we’re able to plug in and help you operate like a business. We catch talent before they blow up and become another number in the system. We build with our clients early, so by the time the money hits the pipeline — the foundation is already set.
Encorporated Group exists to make sure creators own their work, collect their royalties, and move with confidence.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe music publishing will continue to be one of the strongest and most stable parts of the music industry. It’s the foundation. It’s how the money moves — and no matter how the trends shift, publishing will always be at the core of the business.
One of the biggest trends I’m seeing right now is the increased visibility and value of music catalogs. More artists and producers are realizing that their catalogs are assets — and they’re selling them for lump sums or leveraging them for advances. What used to be a behind-the-scenes strategy is now becoming more mainstream. Everyone wants to understand what their music is worth and how to use it as leverage.
Another shift happening across the industry is the rise of outsourcing in general. We’re seeing major labels and companies lay off people in departments like promotions, marketing, and A&R, and instead bring in independent contractors or partner with smaller firms for those services. That opens the door for independent companies like Encorporated Group to step in and provide real value without needing to be attached to a major system.
And of course, metadata and lyric registration are becoming more important than ever. As streaming, AI, and sync continue to grow, the companies who can combine accurate data management with real artist support are going to lead the next wave.
So while the business is evolving, publishing remains the heartbeat — and we plan to stay at the front of it.
